Two hours out of the box...

Installed a Leapers compact SWAT sidefocus scope and BKL offset mount. Used Chairgun to do an approximate 20 yard zero in my indoor 10M range. Throwing H&N FTT (.177) downrange @850 fps. This rifle is everything it is made out to be. Solid thud, but also some boingy/twangy stuff going on. As long as it shoots this well, I can live with the clatter.

good shootin Chef, good lookin shooter too. makes shootin them little groups alot easier dont it.
mines a little buzzy too.

Thanks for your comments. I have been reading about your .20. The buzzy thing takes a back seat to the out-of-the-box accuracy. Vortek is in the cards some day.

Congrats on the new rifle chef! Great shooting also. I notice on the scope you have a clamp on bar for the side wheel to show what range its focused at. Did the side wheel come with it or is that something you rigged? I like the idea.

Congrats! I found it to be a good starter rifle..

When I wasn't happy with the accuracy i was getting with my first springers, a Crosman, and a Hatsan, I decided to get the best I could reasonably afford to see if it was me or the machines that was off. I went through the usual HW97K vs AA200TX internal debate, and ended up with the HW97K... found out it was the machines. I was picking off blackboard chalk at 30 yards within the first tin, acorns no problem at that distance either. The 97K is smooth with little, and controlled recoil. Search for "parlor tricks" on this forum... some may ridiucule the parlour tricks, but if you do the test you will find the ones that will give you single hole accuracy consistently.

HW 97. Awesome. excellent accuracy and i'm so glad you have had that chance to experience it's trademark: "boinginess" that might drive you nuts, except that amazing accuracy you have seen just keeps reapeating itself over and over.

Soon it becomes like a "beauty mark" on a gorgeous woman, a slight eccentricity... Even after I had installed a JM Hornet kit with great fitting guides, it still had a small bit of the boing. But man did that rifle ever shoot soo accurately, all the time. Congratulations on your new shooter...

100mm sidewheel is a Leapers. Cost is @$15 and was designed to be used with this particular scope.

My 20 cal HW97 was same way point and click out of the box. Yes it did twang abit but it seemed not to affect shot placement at all

Very Nice !!!! I love my 97kt ....They even get better after a couple of tins.... Mine likes the HN FTTs .... Keep up the good shooting

He must be AWOL right now, or he would have chimed in, but bartthefart has a HW97k in .20 cal. that I've had the pleasure of shooting. It was very pretty and solid feeling and had very smooth cocking and a nice Rekord trigger of course. Despite a hint of twang, it shot very smoothly. I definitely wouldn't mind trying it again now that Bart has likely really gotten that thing broken in *hint, *hint!
