Making pistol grips from scratch ....

Started with 2 pieces of 3/4" Black Walnut and 2 strips of over sized 3/4" Hemlock. ( @ .125" wider so about 7/8" )
First off the pistol grip that it was to fit was placed on one side of walnut, grip & palm edges established then hemlock strips glued into place. Next the other piece of walnut glued in place making a box
Then with a thin kerf saw blade on table saw squared up all the edges of the box then centering blade in the middle of the hemlock strips cut it into 2 equal half's as shown.
Placed half's back together and with a few drop of CA glue on inside seam edges tacked them together.
Onto the 1" belt sander, 1/2 round rasps, sand paper on a 1" dowel went about shaping grip to fit my XXL size hand. Quite a few hours of working over the shape to satisfaction and an actual grip gets formed
Few coats of finish grade epoxy with light sanding finished off with some furniture paste wax we get matching grips for the Bull pup stock built last week.
First time ever doing this ... dang that was a lot of work !!

The work paid off into a beautifully crafted grip. Fantastic job.
