I was working from home today. It is just BEAUTIFUL here today just right for hanging outside. Around lunch I went and grabbed my new TF Jet off the rack. I need to shoot it some more to break it in.
I set up a target at around 20 yards more or less and started shooting. It was a little off to the left, so I adjusted it until it was hitting one ragged hole. Grabbing and allen wrench I locked the scope down on the lateral movement since I knew it was perfect.
Since it is so new it is hard to cock, so I went inside for some rest and some lunch. While I was shooting earlier, a starling landed in the "forbidden zone". I took a shot anyway since the coast was clear and missed him high shattering the branch above him. I actually clicked the scope down 4 clicks after that and shot some confirmation shots and it was really perfect then!
So inside for some lunch, check email, make a few phone calls, but the Jet was whispering to me "shoot me, shoot me", so I HAD to didn't I?
I loaded up a CPHP and was looking around to see if there were anymore starlings-just songbirds which of course get a free pass. I was just about to shoot at some tin cans WAY down in the lowlands when I noticed movement behind my archery hay bales; a nutter!
Now it is a LONG way from my deck to the bales and he was another three or four yards beyond it almost to my neighbor's property. After shooting the Jet quite a bit I aimed just put the Leapers 3 x 9 scope right above his eye and let loose. Shooting such a powerful air gun you have to keep it on target and follow through or you'll miss. It seemed like forever the pellet was in the air, then I heard a loud THWACK! All I could see then was the squirrel rolling and rolling.
Quickly I grabbed a couple of spare pellets and went down the hill. I couldn't find him at first so I grabbed my favorite big stick and started looking around in the brush. It took me a couple of minutes to find him, but there was no need for the stick-it was a perfect shot from the brand-new shooter!
You couldn't ask for a better shot placement! The pellet only dropped about half an inch at what is every bit of 40 yards (maybe more).
There is a bulge under its other eye which I assume is the pellet. I may have to open this ones head up to see.
My new baby is posing with its first kill!
I propped her up so you can see the other side as well!
Tonight I'm staying up for some hunting! There have been numerous possums running through so I have high hopes. I can't decide on the Jet for the night hunt since it is so new, but it has proved to be powerful and accurate!
As a bonus, we have a tradition here at Casa de Atchman. We carve pumpkins as a family. Here is this year's crop of pumpkins!

Way to go Randy! Congrats on your TF Jet's 1st kill! That is one beautiful rilfe! It looks 350-sized.. so it must have decent power. You are right. This is the 1st TF Jet kill we have had on the Hunting Gate. Good job! Can't wait to see some Country Rats taking a dirt nap next

Wow Randy, I don't know which I like better: seeing the squirrel taking a siesta, your new Jet or the pumpkins. I guess the Jet!!!
I was in Knoxville this past week and thought about trying to get up with you but just didn't get the chance. Maybe in the future we can shoot some.
