Thanks Raizer for posting the link to JDS. I don't have enough posts yet to do that. I do want to mention that John makes regulators for both the 3000psi tanks like the RAP4 17ci tank and for the 4500psi tanks like my Crossfire 90ci. He also makes them for Airforce tanks.

Dean, I could be wrong, but I remember reading a while back that with a 90cu.in. 4500 Paintball tank that is not regulated, you can fill a PCP like a Condor which has a big tank (490cc) to 3k psi, about 4 times only, before the pressure drops below 3k.  Is this correct?

Even at 2,500psi, how many fills do you get from a 90ci 4500 tank, and how big is your gun's tank?

You're correct, about 4 fills of a 490cc tank to 3000psi with a drop to 2000psi. My TalonP however has a 213cc tank so it will fill the small tank about 11 times. At a fill pressure of 2500psi and allowing a drop to 1700psi it will fill the small tank about 18 times. Those are not bad numbers but chew on this: which would you rather carry on a hunt or to the firing range, a large heavy scuba tank or a small light paintball tank? That's the real advantage of using a paintball tank. Nobody is going to carry a scuba tank on their back while hunting.

wow , boy not only have i been doing a lot of chewing but a lot of scratching my head in all the info i am getting . do they make a bigger hi pressure paintball tank then a 90ci tank in 4500 psi ? if i get only 3 to 5 fill ups a tank at 3000 psi that is fine with me .considering you get like 20 shots at full power before your poi drops some . so thats like 60 to 100 shots for every paintball tank .if i use less power thats more and with hunting i never would shoot that many .also i have a store 3 miles from my house to fill my tanks.

Yes they do. I moved to the Benjamin tank because my modified TalonP needs a 3000+psi fill. I could have bought another regulator with a 3000psi output but the valve on the Benjamin tank makes it easier to control the air flow to fill to many different air pressures. The UFA on a regulator is a little harder to control since it is primarily an on-off valve. That's the main difference, just easier to control and the valve has a built-in output pressure gauge whereas the regulator does not.

They do make a 110ci paintball tank but they are not easy to find. A 90ci is usually available. I got a great deal on mine. I bought it direct from Crossfire. It was a new tank but had been sitting in their warehouse for a few years. With a factory hydro on the day I bought it I would get a good 5 years of service out of the tank for less than $15 a year.

Something else to consider. It's much easier to get your local paintball shop to fill a 90ci or 110ci 4500psi tank than to get them to fill a much larger tank. It's also easier for them to work with a paintball tank and regulator than a scuba tank and DIN or K valve. To fill my new Benjamin tank at my local paintball shop I had to build an adapter for them to use. You can by an adapter but I already had the parts so I built mine. Decisions, decisions, decisions. I spent several months trying to figure out what to buy while I pumped away on that Benjamin pump filling my Sumatra 2500. My first choice, a steel 3442psi scuba tank was good except for the weight. The Crossfire JDS regulator setup worked great and was easy to fill and carry with me. Now I have my Benjamin tank with a real valve and gauge and that's a keeper.
