.22 vs .25 accuracy test

I have been wanting to do this test since I got the .25 but it took me a little while to get it set up to where I thought it would have a chance against the .22. Nothing wrong with the .25 or anything but I was trying out different pellets/scopes/tunes to get it to where it is shooting now. These 3 shot groups were all shot at 40 yards which is my zero distance at the mid point of both velocity curves. They were all shot within about 15 minutes of each other so the conditions were as close for both guns as I could make them. All groups shot off a sling-stud mounted tripod with the rear of the stock supported relatively well but not perfect by any means. They were all shot with out of the tin pellets using the clips in both guns with both of the scopes set at 20x. The .22 is shooting in the low 30's FPE and the .25 is shooting in the mid 40's FPE. I measured the groups the best I could with calipers from edge to edge and subtracted the size of the pellet to get the group size. I shot the second set of five groups with the .22 just because I could on a single fill. It started to drop off a little but it is definitely usable for 30 shots.

All in all I think that both of the guns are shooting pretty well but the .22 edges the .25 by just a little at this point. The .25 might do better as the yardage gets longer but that is another test.

JSB Exact kings 25.39 grain for the .25

I would assume you had already determined through exhaustive testing that those are the absolute best pellets in those particular barrels?.... I can't disagree with your tests, because for you they work.... However, your results may not apply to two other identical guns (let alone vastly different ones) as no two barrels are the same.... JMO....

Good test for comparing your particular 2 guns,
irrelevant as a comparison for accuracy between .22 and .25,  just not enought data for drawing conclusions

Probably tested around 30 different pellets in the .22 and 5 in the .25 (which seems to be less pellet fussy) but I am not sure how much it really matters. This was just meant to be a "my experience" post, not a final word on which is a better gun. Yes, everyone's results "will" vary. I just wanted to share what I found on a particular day, with two particular guns.

One of my .25's outshoots all others (.177, .20 and .22) at any distance.  If you spend enough time on a gun to make sure it's absolutely 100% and shooting at its best, or tuned & lubed properly, shooting in harmony, least friction possible, find its sweet spot, right pressure, etc., you are almost guaranteed to outshoot all your other caliber guns.  What does this prove as far as calibers go? nothing really.  My point is, if you sent out your .25 to someone or tinkered with it, I bet you 'd get it to outshoot the .22.
