Cheek Riser for Boyd's Blaster stock ?

Hey guys,
I received my beautiful  Blaster stock in Nutmeg color from Norm, set my new Marauder action in it, and it is very nice.

 I like it a lot,... it feels good in the trigger hand and shoulder,...But,... the cheek is far too low for my scope, and I actually rest the side of my chin/jaw rather than getting a comfortable fit on my cheek.
 So now, I need to figure out how to make more comfortable to shoot.
 I'd like to see any pics of a blaster stock that has a cheek riser or raised comb, possibly adjustable? but not required, I'm pretty much open to any ideas.
 I don't know if something already exists/fits a Boyd's Blaster, but I sure would like to see any pics or listen to any ideas.
or
if any of the hobbyist  wood workers are up to custom making something like this, I'd like to hear from them.

Ron, we seem to be in similar situation.  There are easy  and scary  ways to fix this.  I have been using an easy way for the last couple years

While it worked very well and is easy to install, I have now decided to go the scary route and fully customize my stock and will be cutting the cheek rest and installing adjustable posts.  Plan on starting the work this weekend.

Wow!! Everyone has told how they like their stocks and not on person has told me they would like a higher riser. I guess better to find out this way as not to find out at all!!
I may just try to come up with a adjustable checkpiece riser.

YES!  I believe some time ago we discussed something like that. Not only would that be huge for the hunters and plinkers out there but it would also turn the Disco or Mrod into a much more formidable FT gun. Especially for beginners.

Please keep us in the loop on any progress with that Norm. I'd certainly volunteer my gun and money for a stock as the test bed. I've been quietly searching for an adjustable stock for the disco double that wouldn't cost me a new gun. Ding ding ding I think we have a winner!

I've found the same in my case Norm with the oem stock. The added height of the bnm multi shot breech makes it where my chin barely touches the stock when I've looked through various 40mm scopes requiring high rings so the scope doesn't rub the barrel(only 1/4" space between them).

This riser that was posted looks like it would help so thanks Mike. Would this one fit good with the oem disco stock?

Just to make sure everyone is clear, I'm not using a Blaster stock.  My stock is an AR2079a target stock (sorry if I confused anybody).  But I have found that very few stocks have a high enough cheek for scopes using anything other than the lowest rings available.

Yes Tyler we had discussed that as we all know the factory Disco stock surely does need a crown riser and adding a BNM Breech magnifies the problem. What I had not heard was that it was also needed for the Blaster.
So seeing I have a Blaster with an inletting mistake it may just become a test gun for a cheek piece riser. If I can get it to work on that stock I would be able to modify any stock.
I think the most difficult part will be cutting the cheek piece. The two end cuts will not be a problem but to get the bottom cut with nice short radius curves could be interesting.
So I see another project on the list!

ok, here's a few idea's I'm considering.

 The Blaster stock is a good stock and is comfortable for the most part. It feels decent in the grip, it is styled nicely, and it looks great.
 The only real issue I have with it, is it's designed and intended to be used on a non-scoped rifle. (Something I hadn't really considered before trying it). The Comb is simply not high enough to allow for a good cheek weld on even the smallest scope and shortest rings.
 
 Everybody has their personal preferences. Overall I'm happy with it, and I feel it is worth "adjusting" into my own perfect fit.
 Heck,... does this mean there is a little room for more customizing and personalizing
 Oh Gee Oh Darn,... What's a man to do, other than "Cater to, and Nurture the Disease", LOL!

Each person will have various idea's of what they like. Each person will have various tastes. There are many options.

With that said,
 We need to look carefully at what the basic design of the Blaster stock will allow for, and or lend itself to.
 The way I am seeing it and visualizing possibilities,.... the large "hollowed out section" accompanying the Thumb hole of the Blaster stock, will not take kindly to a separated, adjustable comb, mounted on adjustable stud/risers.

.
 If we were to cut the comb out/off of the Blaster stock, with the intention of using readily available mounting hardware, there simply is not enough "meat" leftover, to mount the inserts into the lower "heel" section. (it's just not thick enough).
BUT,....
If we were to leave the Blaster stock, comb, heel, as they are currently shaped,... there is just barely enough "meat" there to drill/mill down into the top of the comb, to facilitate installing a "shallow fit" insert.

Carefully applied,... this could provide both a functional mounting point(s), and still look decent too.

 Depending on final design, it may possibly be adjustable "on the fly",... or it may be something that each user would need to determine his preferred riser height, and use appropriate length studs accordingly. 

Some people may be satisfied with something as simple as adhering a rubber comb riser / extension to the top of the existing Comb.

Myself,... I'm picturing a similarly shaped, thin wood/laminate, cheek plate, that basically looks the same as the existing cheek plate of the Blaster stock,... and mounted on some sort of "riser studs",... possibly set in top drilled inserts.
( I know what I'm trying to describe, and I have some pics, but I need to figure out how to get them into this posting).
I'll work on that a bit, and try to edit them in later.

Anyway, that's just some thoughts I've been pondering.

Here's the cheek rest on my oem disco stock. With the strap used instead of the screws the gap between the stock and rest is around 1/4" but I'm guessing it would be around 1/6" or maybe less if screwed to the stock. To me personally that would be fine but for those who would want it to have no gap between it and the stock then there's not much room for hollowing out the rest with a dremel(around 1/8") to make it fit on the stock and doing that may possibly cause the rest to break when fitted on the stock I don't know. My rifle is being repaired but this is how it looks on the stock with the strap. 

On a side note these arrived with scrapes on the plastic base so those are easy to scrape, but cerakote would eliminate that. It feels like it will really improve the cheek weld to the stock now. It's matte black finish matches the mrod trigger guard perfectly. These pics are with the 1" rubber pad fixed to the top.

It can go up about 3/4" of an inch. I can do this mod to your stock or if you order a Blaster from me I can do it while I am inletting. I also want to let you lefties know I have the master stock done for left handed Blaster. I changed the pitch and comb height on the Left handed version to better fit the Blaster. It is 1/2" higher on the left handed stock. See the pix below of the comb on a regular Blaster and the master stock in pine till I finish up a lefty in pepper that I am working on now so I can show pictures. Any questions PM or e-mail me. Thats a really nice adjustable comb. If you dont want to have to cut your stock you can use a Adj cheek piece from snipercentral. You can see it on my marauder stock in my icon picture

Just showing this for suggestion sake that sometimes a sloping Comb that gives both a Low and High position while remaining stationary can have its place.  Simply a twist/tilt of ones head changes cheek placement.
