Removing Front Sight From Storm XT: Questions & Opinions

I know that looks aren't everything. Function, over looks, in my book. My Storm XT shoots fantastic with thy open sights, from what I remember. But, the front sight looks like crud to me and, it's almost useless. And, it's scoped. No need for open sights
UNLESS I FIND A QUALITY "SEE-THROUGH" MOUNT FOR SCOPE
. I have removed the rear sights, and corked the holes with, yes, corks. I have refininished the stock with blonde Minwax Natural Stain and cleared with 15+ coats of spray polyurethane. I have got the barrel down to bare metal, and painted with auto primer, and painted it a "sand" color, and cleared with 10 coats of poly spray. The gun is a total blondie, so please send me 2 Blondie cartoon vinyl stickers that I can use before I re-poly this stock again someday : ). But, anyways, the front sight is bugging me. Should I remove it? It wouldn't be difficult to match it with the rest of the barrel with primer/paint/clear. Or, should I keep it on the gun in case I want open sights again on her someday?
Does anybody know of any see-through mounts for my 40mm scope?
If I remove it, how do I go about it? -- Wood and a rubber mallet, carefully?
If I remove it, how do I replace open sights?
And, how do I make a Poll on GTA? : )

Put the muzzle and plastic front sight into hot water....that'll soften the plastic, and then you can pull it straight out. Unless that's been changed...all if not all Crosman Storms and its variant are built the same.
You can always use a plastic tube (Metal would be better) to wrap over the muzzle to make it look like a muzzle break.....that will cover the "Grooves" used to hold the plastic front sight.

you can make a muzzle brake out of sprinkler riser pvc pipe, it will press on to the barrel very snuggly, i put a full length one on my vantage when i had it, i think the added weight helped with accuracy also

Front sight slides right off. Used a dowel and small rubber mallet to tap mine off. Installed a generic muzzle brake from Pyramid Air, but it appears it is no longer in stock. They have the Beeman ported version, but it states a .579 diameter barrel fit, and the Storm is supposed to be .588. There are still some aftermarket muzzle brakes around, just need to look a little.

You can order the Remington Summit metal brake (part #B19-7-00-100) & screws (part #GBT-77-2000-M5x3) from Crosman. I put this on a Quest, which is the same barrel. All I had to do was file the serrations in the barrel end down slightly. They hold the plastic sight on, but have to be filed just a little to slide on the brake. Plastic sight taps right off with a block of wood & hammer.

The barrel diameter is .590.Once you get the front sight off the Buck-Rail Daisy 880 adapter and moderator will fit on the barrel.
This moderator set also fit on my Crosman 400 from 1960.

I have two pawn shop storms. One had a nice stock and metal, the other's stock was beat up and the metal had rust and pitting. The nice one I put in a Benjamin thumb hole stock, remove the sights, put a barrel weight on it, scoped it and installed a GRT trigger. The beat up one I put it in the stock from the nice one, spray painted the metal flat black, scoped it with see-thru rings so I can use the open sights and installed a GRT trigger. Never been inside either and they're both tac drivers. Later I refinished the beat up stock and put a Crosman G1 extreme, a friend gave me, in it and threw the plastic stock in the parts bin and did the RC roller bearing mod.
