My brand new R7 was just returned from Air Venturi warranty service. The rifle took the round trip to Ohio because of initial low velocity when I started the break in. The warranty techs ended up replacing the mainspring on a brand new rifle. I think the 10 shot chrony string that I printed and included with the rifle was an important part of the warranty claim process. No questions from AV, they just fixed it and returned it. Their included chrony printout showed about a 100 fps increase in muzzle velocity compared to the original factory spring.
The break in can now continue. So far, so good.
For those who doubt the need to own a chrony, think again. If it wasn't for that tool, I never would have known that the spring was no good.

What caliber do you have and what were your before and after velocities and pellets?
It sounds like they took good care of you--that good to hear.

Its .177 caliber. When I sent it in, it was shooting H&N Sport wadcutters (nominally 8.18g without weighing) at around 520 fps. The chrony string sent back by AV showed the same pellet moving around 630 fps, but probably still includes some velocity from the new spring's lube. Their chrony tape showed a Beeman Laser pellet (7g) moving around 670 fps.
I haven't had a chance yet to get in my own chrony time. I have to fire some more pellets to burn off the lube.
A rough job, but someone has to do it.
