I did some digging around, using the Search feature, and found out a few things.

(1) A guy named Joao Mello owns American Arms. They were a vendor for a while, but they were removed from GTA.

(2) Gene did some testing for these units and posted results and performance data. No follow-up ever happened on them being sold.

(3) The units being tested are from a company in Brazil called Elite Airguns. The owner posted on GTA about selling items on eBay, but no further information.

Joao and AA still have a link, never saw anything about any removal.  Are you sure?  Its a problem for business to maintain a reputation when they can can be hammered by even accidental rumour on the internet.   As a matter of fact it looks like his site has a major renovation so hopefully he is doing well.

Gene removed him from the vendor gate because he was inactive, not due to any problems with his business if I remember correctly.

Ah ok, I was thinking the Mall where he was still listed I didn't realize his "gate" was pulled, I could never tell if he was a drop ship vendor like Pyramyd -> Senior Arrow Shooter.  I know he caught *(&^ when the first batch of Hatsans where behind other vendors by a week.  I see he also still lists Retays and other "unicorn" guns.

I think there was more to his removal on the vendor list than inactive. Don't think it was any false rumor. JMO

American Arms still has a web site.
Here they honor vendors who honor the members.
Do recall, some members being slightly ticked, when they ordered "x" rifle in "x" caliber....but got "o" rifle and "o" caliber.

   if i remember correctly he fixed all or most of his errors (with interest).  last i read he was going out of town or something.  that seems aways back though.
