Hope this is in the correct forum.

I've been air-gunning for years so I'm far from a newbie. I have a Sheridan blue streak 20 cal., a RWS Diana model 48 177 cal. and an original Crossman Mark1 22 cal. Target that I've owned from new. I'm picking up a RWS Model 54 22 cal. tomorrow. I've been looking through posts for 4 days and can't find what I'm looking for. Lots of great discussions and info but nothing concrete. My 48 busted 4 scopes over the years. (never tried Leapers) I finally put a Tactedge red/green dot sight on it over 2 years ago and it it holds center with no problem and hasn't shifted one little bit. Now, with my new 54, I want some magnification but I'm worried that I will go through the busted scope routine all over. I was looking at the Leapers 3-12X44 AO Swat - EZ Tap Illuminated Mil Dot Recticle scope as an option. Next problem, that scope has a 30 MM tube not 1". My current Diana mount which I bought for the 48 (that is now sitting in a drawer) is 1" so I can't use that. I understand that the Leapers scopes take a beating but am I fooling myself in2 thinking it will work? Also, If anyone knows which scope mount would work best with this scenario, I'd love to hear your input. Because the T06 trigger came out in 2011, I'm assuming this gun will have a T06 not a T05 trigger? That apparently causes a problem with scope mounts. I'm not offended easily.

The mount you need is by UTG #DNT06 scope elevation compensator mount for RWS Airgun with T06 Trigger and compatible variants. Hope this is helpful. The scope you mention comes with 30mm rings. I have two of those scopes and have not had a problem so far; one on my 54 and the other on a PCP. Got mine through PA.

Thanx for the reply jimmie lee. Definitely the mount I need, provided it has the new trigger assembly. I will try and find out tomorrow when I pick it up. I can see a scope lasting forever on a PCP rifle. How long has the scope been on your 54? Any suggestions as 2 which are the best scope rings 2 mount on the DNT06 base? I'm in Canada, sometimes that poses a problem with optics and related parts. I will have 2 check if PA ships 2 Canada. If so, I can get scope, rings and base there.

I believe the rws lock down mount comes in a 30mm configuration also

Well, the 3-12x44 leapers scope you speak of comes with the 30mm scope rings included with the scope which is itself a 30mm tube. It's all in the box and the rings are medium see-thru. The rings are nice, quick detach from the weaver rail. I have had the scope on my 54 for a month now. Do yourself a favor and get some blue loc-tite to put on the threads of the scope mounts and rings and let cure for 24 hours. Mine loosened up repeatedly and being loose is hard on the scope not to mention shifting poi.

If you want to get the mount in Canada I know DLairgun has em. If you go to their site and look up Diana 54,52,48 they show RWS mounts and rings recommended.

Have you ever opened them up and given them some TLC...
That will slow the scopes being eaten.

Not quite sure what you mean?? Maybe explain a little more.

Well, all I can say is what a bunch of helpful peeps here. Lots "O" of very helpful info in a short time.

The SWAT scope is a great scope for the money and your application.

Opened them up, remove the spring, flatten spring ends. Add a thrust washer ahead of the spring in the piston.
Deburred the cocking slot and any rough edges, a little moly lube on the piston behind the piston seal and at the end of the piston.
A little JM tar on the spring to settle the vibrations down.
Some clear lube on the spring guide and moly on the flatten spring ends.

This is the basis of a tune, just not including the honing of the cylinder.
I have tuned and added kits to all my RWS rifles. The 350 wears a bushnell Banner 4-12x40 scope, if the 350 was not tuned (TLC) it would have ate that scope real quick.
The less vibrations and the smoother the shot cycle the easier it is on scopes.

I've had good luck with the Leapers 3-12 SWAT Compact, and the 5th Generation Scopes. Using Diana Models 48, 52, 460. They're tough enuff, but they aren't liteweight. Mike

Thanx KYMike, I'm hoping 2 get one of those Swat Compact scopes in 30mm but I'm having a bit of a tough time up here in the great white north. I really want 2 get the "etched" reticle instead of the wire reticle. I just figure that should be one less piece 2 fork up. I'll keep plugging along here but not many options compared 2 U.S. market. On another note, my new Diana 54 T06 trigger shoots like a dream and I can't wait 2 get some glass on it.

I have an RWS ci scope 4-12x50 30mm.
It has the etched glass reticle and mildot...but it's huge.

Thanx thekid. As per usual, practically all CDN dealers not so good. I found the sight at only one dealer in all of Canada.

Fookin joke. Twice the price of any US dealer.

Makes me want 2 drive 2 Michigan just 2 get what I want. Sheeeeeeeesh

No problem
The boys in the states, have twice..three times the selection on anything airgun related.
Any thing we have, that matches theirs, costs twice as much.
The only gun so far I have purchased, that has been on par is the FX independence.
It is a shame.

Mike (or anyone else), any problem with eye relief on the compact Leapers SWAT scope mounted to the D48? Doesn't look like much adjustment room. I'm thinking you don't have the T06 mount (you've probably said but I can't remember which mount you were using).

Bill, I use the UTG RWS droop compensating mount for the TO5.
I personally mount the Compact in the last slot. You may not want it set back that far...personal choice. Yes, one thing you give up in a compact scope is the maintube length. But it works for me just fine. Hope this helps.
By the way, I have a new one with the Glass etched reticle on the way. Should be here Friday. I'm curious to see if there's any differences to my older unit.
