Newbie needs help with HW30S

Hello All - First post so take it easy on me but it seems this is the place to look for airgun info ... Thanks in advance
I purchased my first air rifle (HW30S in 177) in over 30 years about 4 weeks ago. Topped it off with a BugBuster 6X and have shot about 600 pellets though her so far.
My question is that every so often she will shoot 1 or 2 pellets about 4 to 6 inches low off the bench. It doent matter what type of pellet I am using. I did do some searching before posting this question and found some folks said it might be a loose stock so I did check that this morning and was able to get about half a turn on the main stock screw. I have not been able to test as work has to come first
So with that I am wondering if anyone has some suggestions ??
Best Regards
Kelly

Is it possible that you've run out of elevation adjustment on the scope so the untensioned spring is allowing the elements to float? It would be a pain but you could try shooting with just open sights and see if the problem goes away.
I had to shim the Bug Buster on my HW30S just slightly to compensate for droop.

Hard to say for sure, but if it's been that long since you shot an air rifle, it may just be shooter error. It could also be that the gun isn't fully "broken in" yet. How often is this happening? Rarely, or regularly?

you also could have a lose fitting pellet from time to time that isn't getting a good seal in the bore and that will cause them to shoot lower or sometimes higher than the rest of your group!

After tightening up the stock had 1 shoot low out of 10 last night before it got dark so now I am going to ditch the scope and see if its the issue ...
As far as it being me I have been shooting all my life just not airguns and I definitely know when its me
And with the pellets I am checking every one and making sure they are seated properly ...
So what I am guessing its either the scope or the gun
I will post results after I finish the honey dooos

Sorry- I got the impression that you had not been shooting airguns for over 30 years. If you've been shooting air rifles, and are usually accurate, and not having this same problem, then I'd say it probably is the scope.

no need for sorry lizzie - but you are correct its the scope ... I placed the irons back on removed the scope not one single flyer in over 30 shots ...
looks like the bug buster is going back to the manufacturer
so now its off to Cabelas for a new scope
Thanks for everyone's comments

X2...Like JDUB asked. I too wonder if it is barrel droop. Wouldn't be surprised at all, as a German unit equipped with iron sites. Dianas have this issue too. I wonder how low the scope was shooting, when you first mounted it, and it was optically centered. The scope may be good, and its the rifle... just needing a little help with droop compensation to keep the erector tube closer to center, in the scope. It's an easy fix. WELCOME to GTA!!!! Mike

Thanks all for the welcomes and replies. I purchased and installed the new scope same issue. Took a trip over to Airguns of Arizona they shot it (while they were extremely busy great guys there ) and thought optics issue also so I purchased a set Sports Match UK rings... Same issue ... AOA offered to keep the gun and take a look before I bought anything but I decided to get the rings and see what happened at home... So being at a total loss and haveing a new scope and mounts its going back to Airguns of Arizona for them to figure out ...
I will post what happens next
And again thank to all for the replies and welcomes
Great forum
Peace

Took the HW30s over to Airguns of Arizona today at lunch and while shooting it thru the chrono it threw a pellet but the fps stayed in the same 600 range ... in fact it did it twice today for the guys ... They are going to take her apart and let me know ....

Simply Amazing ... The gents over at AOA mounted one of their test scopes to the gun no issues in 50 pellets. So I went over today and had them mount a Vortex Diamondback 4-12x40 AO. No fliers after another 50 pellet test ... So I hope this issue is put to bed ... But who would have thought 2 bad / broken scopes ....
Shows to go ya
