Same old story, folks. I was standing in the garage, as usual, and saw this big guy about 25 yards out working on a hickory nut, not even noticing me and Viper as we crept up to the nearest tree to brace against. Got him in the glass, but it was a bit blurry, so I adjusted the AO till he was in focus, then zoomed up to about 14x. Let a red fire fly, and heard the THWACK. He fell over and sort of crawled a few feet into a little patch of weeds. I kept an eye on the spot while I loaded up the 1377 and went to recover my kill. It wasn't my best shot, as he was still quite alive, but not able to move much, just looking at me and making mewling noises
He even held still for me to put the muzzle of the 1377 right between his eyes, point blank, and put him out of his misery. He was a BIG fox nutter, dressed out at close to a pound, and a really pretty tail. Too bad the tail lost a lot of fur when I was skinning him, or I'd have kept it for a trophy. The bag limit here is 4 per day, and most days I could easily limit out, but just to keep things sporting, I generally only take one a day.

Good shooting. I can't wait to take one with my 1377. I have to let the Titan play for a while first though

Nice shooting! and great colorful pic
Wow almost 1lb dressed out? That's a big one! I only take 1 too but only because I don't have too many
I watched my backyard until 6:20pm and nothing, so I shot the 2 pellet I had with the 48 and right after the 2nd shot, there goes a Gray in the trees almost in the dark. They stay out pretty late around here.

Great shot and pic Joe and that is a nice sized nutter. The Fox Squirrels have been known to get up to 3lbs.
