Tuck2222,
Do tell, what calibre is it? What Beeman Address is on the receiver?
That is a great story,when I rule the World,I will make all R1s $70.

Electric Cowboy --On the left side of my rifle: BEEMAN MODEL R 1 Made in W. Germany BEEMAN PRECISION AIR GUNS INC. SAN RAFEAL CALIFORNIA 94903 On the part that holds the barrel: Cal .177 / 4.5 mm and outline of two pellets . Numbers on the barrel : 936778 On the right side: a round emblum SP ? looks like a outline of a bear face and Precision Beeman Airguns ----- SO what so important about all the data ? I looked up the price of a new R-1 around $ 600 , makes my $ 70 R 1 look like a good deal. I have ben retired for 16 years and got the gun some time befor I retired but cant recall what year but it must have ben in the 80s. The R 1 is far more accurate than my $ 200 some Beeman GS 1000 22 Cal made in Spain. I had to recrown the muzzle on the GS 22 and clean the barrel to get cottentail rabbit accuracy. When I first shot the GS at 25 yards I got a one foot ten shot group. My Sheridan Blue Streak 20 Cal pump up is more accurate than the GS rifle after I worked on the GS.

I will try to answer your question as best as I can. The info on your R1 helps date it.
It seems you have a very early R1,and to some people this makes it very desirable.
The San Rafel was a early rifle for Beeman. Yours dates to about 1983.
No mater how you look at it,you have a "Great" Rifle at a Great price................
Maybe someone will come along and add some better info than I did.

I have to shoot My R-1 22 a least twice a week to remind me what German quality is all about. It cocks smooth and the firing cycle goes thunk. All my other spring guns can't compare to the smoothness and feel of the gun. The only downside is when you take it off safety you can't put it back on. Oh well thats how it goes but I would not trade that gun for any other springer. The gun is still stock and has not been tuned.

Richard you need one in your collection! the carbine versions IMO are the best well rounded of the bunch JMO, their more nimble in a tight spot and theirs no power reduction over the longer barreled gun's,

George... if i recall all the beeman/HW rifles can reset the safety by recocking the barrel... all the way. the last 1/4 inch of travel is what sets the safety... unless my gunsmith has modified them that is what i recall...

My Santa Rosa R1 has the stamping "Beeman Precision Arms". Does anyone know about what date this would be?
