There must be some new male fox squirrels moving into the area to replace the ones I've gotten, and these haven't heard about me and my red fire spitting Viper. This one found out the hard way
As usual, I was hanging out in the garage, keeping an eye out for pesky varmint activity, when I spotted this guy about 40ish yards away and heading toward me. I quickly grabbed the rifle and cocked her (I always keep a pellet in the breech) and knelt down, using my la-z-boy as a rest. Got him in the glass, and just let him keep coming closer. He stopped and looked around at about 25 yards from me, but started moving again too fast for me to get a good shot off. He was still coming towards me, so I just kept him centered in the crosshairs till he stopped again at about 17 yards out. This time he sat up and presented me with a nice profile. I already had the scope zoomed in to about 10x, and the AO was already at 15 yards, so I just took aim at the sweet spot right behind his eye and put a red fire right into his hard drive. Heard a nice solid THUMP, and he just fell over and did a short death dance. Took him in the garage and dressed him out, and put him in the freezer with his friends.
