I have shot only 3 rounds through my Quest 1000X .177 and it is as loud as a 22 magnum. Is this normal for this rifle? All other airguns that I have and have shot are quiet compared to this one.

If it is brand new then yes, this happens quite often. Many AGs are assembled at the factories with too much lubrication which can cause the loud reports followed by some white smoke. This is not good for the gun but should stop after a few more rounds are sent through it. DO NOT oil the internal parts or the pellets or breech at all. As I stated, this will stop after a few more shots.
Also, use ONLY lead pellets IMO!!!!

What's happening there is the factory lubes are detonating under pressure. It should subside after a few shots. Some guys have said that they leave the rifle in a corner, standing on the muzzle for a few hours. I've only had detonations happen a couple of times and it stopped after a few shots. It may still diesel for awhile but should shoot fine. These are easy to tune and parts from Crosman are cheap.

Shoot it a few more times and the excess lubes should burn off. If it's still as loud around the 10th shot....then you might have a torn or nicked piston seal and it's letting lube get into the compression chamber.

First check the library that gatewaytoairguns has. it is abundant w/knowledge. The reason i suggested this cause you might want to learn how to tune your gun which is the B-18 B-19 platform. or you could just clean your barrel again, preferably w/goo gone. and make sure that you are NOT shooting pba or very light weight ammo. Try the crosman premiers 7.9 or the jsb's in the eight grain category.
