hi there,

hope eevryone is doing well. im coming to you guys with a huge problem. im new to airguns im 30 yeas old and just moved out to the country. i bought my blachawk to try and control my squirrel problem.

ive had my blackhawk for about a week and i really enjoy it, however i find its not strong enough to kill my squirrels. i have confirmed numerous hits however the dang things just run off into the woods.

IS THERE A CONVERSION KIT TO INCREASE THE FPS FOR THIS THING!!!!! PLLLLEASE HELP AND A STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTION WOULD BE NEEDED.

Your Ruger should be hitting around 900 fps if it was made for sale in the US

no i live in canada so it was made at 490 fps

welcome kscrew,Gene is right with the fps also pellet weight and distance plays a major role in eliminating your critters...

ya thats the gun and you gentlemen are correct however, here in canada the max fps available is 500. so they must weaken the strength of the airguns somehow.

my shots are accurate, i have shot small birds and chipmunks and all my shots are within 100 feet. it just seems that squirrels are to big for the power of this rifle...

please teher must be conversion kit or something to create more power

The main spring is the culpret. Even with a stock Chinese main spring you will find your hunting needs fullfilled... I sent you a PM telling you where you can buy one but do not know if you want to break the law in Canada? Being in Canada all springers sold there will be under powered.

When you said Canada, I knew right away why your FPS was so low. Gun laws!!!! You have a couple of options,.....replace the spring,.....or buy a .22/410 shotgun, and save the Ruger for the sparrows and grackles.

What he has to do is take the Gun course,get his P.A.L.(Possession Acquisition License),but after that your Good to go and can buy all he wants here in Canada.All my Air Rifles are at full power and it's no big deal really,It took me all of 40 minutes to get my P.A.L and then you can buy all you want,It's just that easy.It's ridiculous to have such a law for Law abiding citizen's,,but it's the law and we have to follow it.The reason for the law is so that people with criminal backgrounds can't just walk in and buy a gun,and with Ag's now with the power they have,(way over 500 Fps)well here they consider them Firearms,(yep lame I know for an Air Rifle) but if you wanna play,you gotta have that P.A.L!
Oh and Btw,,your course to make sure you know firearm safety is $50.

P/S: Another thing to,is,if you buy an Air rifle at less than 500 fps and then install a full power kit,you then have to register it as you would one you buy at full power.If I were to buy a Walmart Phantom,tune it and seal the Piston to bring her to full power,I'd then have to call and Register it as the rest of my AG's are now.Really it's no big deal once your good to go,you can buy all you want and they just do the registering for you whoever sell's them to you,and it doesn't take no time,(As soon as you click BUY and enter your PAL #,it's all done in 5 minutes).It seems like it would be a hassle, but not at all,(I don't like it),,but I enjoy my HP Airguns way too much to care really,lol.Once you pass your course,(And that's all Common Sense),well it's like getting your drivers license,once you have them,,don't do anything stupid and you can have them forever.I see alot of guys on our great forum here that have to watch out for noise level's from their Airgun's down there in the Good Ole US of A,(And btw where I spent the last 12 years of my life working in NC,SC,GA,VA,TX and pretty well all the southern States)because of disturbing their neighbors and really if they do something that was out of line would probably lose their AG's as well,,so really we all have to follow the law with our Airgun's,so it's really not a whole lot of difference.We here have to license them and it seem's crazy to some,but I've never had any problems and won't as long as I use mine like I'm supposed to, so my best advise to you is,get your license and then Enjoy the sport to the fullest.I guess the bottom line for me is,,If all i have to do is have my P.A.L to enjoy my Ag's,well so be it and then I don't worry about some politician coming up with some other law that ruins the sport in another way.We are all governed by laws so it's just easier to abide and still be able to enjoy our hobbies.There is one thing that bugs me though is you guys are lucky can buy a Whisper down there and we can't buy them here as they aren't allowed to import them where they have a moderator.All the AG's I have come from our Canadian Distributors,(Like my favorite place to buy SSSO),and they import them from Umarex down there.   Thanks and again, hope this helps.
