'scuba tank fills?

Stopped by the ole scuba shop today.  I was just wondering what a tank would go for.  Anyway they were all 3000# tanks.  Does anyone know how many fills these tanks will give a disco?

These are the tanks I saw.

19 cu ft

30 cu ft

40 cu ft

80 cu ft.

Get the biggest tank you can lol a disco will get a LOT of fills off the 80cf tank esp if they over fill to 3300 or 3400

My thoughts were to get something "reasonably" protable for the field but still get enough fill to make it worth the expense.  Maybe not carry it in the field but not a hastle to take on a motorcycle or in the truck.

benjamin does have a smaller tank that is fairly cheap, would good for field work along with the large tank at home. you can fill the smaller tank when needed from the larger tank

Motorcycle...heh-heh-heh. Used to get some raised eyebrows traveling to the range with a rifle slinged over my shoulder. That was 20 years ago and folks have *NOT* become less paranoid or more sensible in between...

This tank thing is a future thing.  Right now the BNM thing is on the top of the list.  I need a more backyard friendly disco.
I saw the Benji tank but it's pretty expensive and not that big.  Ok maybe the 4500 psi makes it in reality larger than the same size 3000 psi tank.  My local scuba shop has a bunch of new tanks.  Probably the one that would make the most sense to me for the field is the 19cuft.  For just a few bucks more the tanks get bigger with the just a few bucks more thing up to about 200 bucks for a 80 cu ft al. tank.  They will be on sale in August so the prices will be down a bit.  They said they can fill to 4500 psi though.

Funny I was only asked about the gun case on the bike once.  I've even been followed and passed by the police with no problems.  Now I do have it in a hard case so really it could be empty or even have a level in it for that matter.  Anyway, as you know, it's not illegal.  I use it to go hunting when the weather permits.

  I have an 80 CC scuba and get 82 fills as well. I start at 2000psi and refill at 1000psi in the gun's reservoir. I also have a 100 CC scuba...I can get 121 fills from it. I'd get as large a tank as I could afford.

if you could swing a 4500psi scba tank i would. you will likely want to fill other pcp's later and most will fill to 3000. i would get a 40 cu ft or 44 cu ft tank for portability. not that you cant tote that 80 around, but the 40 will be so much easier. especially if you can manage a carbon 4500 scba tank.

even if you cant get it filled right now to 4500psi it can still be filled the more common dive shop 3400psi.. and who knows maybe a year from now you will find a 4500psi fill for it.. better then having to buy awhole nother tank

Seems you've gotten your answer's (and I get about 110 fills off a 110cf STEEL tank.  You might glance at my current avitar a a small 4500psi unit is a good bit of air as long as you can get it filled.
 Now for public carry, bike, foot, other and just because they are often of a higher quality than soft sided gun cases thought I would post a pic of some purchased at a pawnshop in Nashivliie rifle cases.

You can say that again.  A dive shop that can fill to 4500 is rare.  All the Scuba/dive shops in a 30mi. radius around me can only fill to 3400psi, except for 1 that could fill to 4200psi right here in town, which I have been using for the last 3-4yrs.  Only problem is, they went out business 2 weeks ago(!) before I could fill all my tanks!!    But I found a Paintball shop 2-3 towns over (about 15-20min. drive) that "thinks" can fill my 4500 tanks if they are "not too big" (??).  I described the tanks to her and the size (she had no clue of SCBA/fireman tanks) and says she should be able to do it if I had the male Paintball/Foster fitting.  So I am going to show her the tanks first, and if she agrees, then I will get a Painball male Foster to SCBA adapter for my tanks, and probably put my SCBA to Scuba adapter 4sale.

The key word here is "says" they can fill a 4500 tank.  I've been down that road before where people say or think they can.  Before I get a tank I'll make sure.

they will likely be able to. most paintball uses the 4500 tanks now. he may not want to if its larger than what he is expecting. maybe a small premium would take care of the difference. just tip him good the 1st time and he will likely take care of you from now on.
