Well the FWB 300 arrived yesterday. I would've loved to have shot the thing just to try it out, but one look at the stock told me if I do shoot it, it will then be in two pieces.
Once again I get burned from an Auction. I won't do another Auction again here in Germany. I've had it.
The seller says it was perfect, it is my problem and I will have to deal with the Post Office. Buyers have no rights here, unlike eBay nowadays where things can be returned if defect. So, the stock is hanging together by just a few grains of wood, and I have to prove it was a delivery problem. Well, good luck to me.

Finally the Seller agrees, so I'll pack the gun up and send it back to him, with a full refund.

Glad to hear you didn't get burned.
That not worthy and on such a nice rifle.

Unfortunately the pistol grip is where MANY match rifles are broken.
What happens is when the box is dropped on the rear end, the mass of the barrel/receiver pushes rearward, and there is nothing but the pistol grip holding it forward. So the stock breaks at that point. Because of that, it is recommended to separate the action from the stock, when it is shipped. That way there isn't the force of the barrel/action on the stock.

That would be a fairly easy repair with epoxy like Brownells acraglas.I repaired a Diana 75 with a much worse break a couple of months ago.Shipping with stocks removed can open you up to trigger unit damage.I received a Ruger air magnum recently that was shipped with the stock removed. The trigger blade was snapped in half.I believe my Diana 75 was used as part a makeshift step by UPS.

I think the gun was just poorly packed. Over ten pounds, more than three feet long, weak cardboard with the voids filled wadded up newspaper, bam, the stock breaks.
I was willing, with a buddy who knows his stuff, to fix the thing if the seller refused to reimburse. There are a
lot of 300's
here to be had,
lots
. I'll risk it one more time, if the seller is willing to pack the gun properly.
It is a shame though.

It really is a shame to see such a nice vintage gun like that damaged so badly. I know stocks broken like that can be repaired so the break is barely noticeable, but its just not the same and involves extra work that could have been avoided. Better packing usually would solve the issue, but I know shipping companies toss packages around quickly to save time, so these things happen. ;(
Good luck in your search for another 300. It sounds like you won't have to search long though.

Well I've sent the gun back and the Dude has acknowledged. Now he thinks I dropped it on purpose and wants $80 for the replacement!!!!
Now I have to bite my tongue and be cool, because I haven't received the Payback he offered (I have it in writing).
In the meantime, he has posted two more FWB 300's. Guess what? They look the
same
as the one I bought.
Some Forum guys here in Germany says the guy stinks to the Heavens, and will be holding his a## in his hands if he does not come across with my cash soon. Yes, now I have my fun. The money in question will not break the Bank, but the idea of being cheated and held for a fool bites me, as much as any decent man, anywhere.
I'll get my money back, or he can have his coffee in the future from a straw.

I picked up a 300 from Waffen Lux in Heidelberg.
The problem with that for you is you end up paying the 16% VAT, which I think you avoid by a direct buy from an individual.
Gud Luk on finding one.

I have offers coming in from Forum Members over here, and the 300's are beauties. Several are currently used for FT and are tuned and seem real fine.
Even a FWB 150 has my attention. All have Walnut Stocks and are almost mint. I had a few messages with the Forum Member who was intensely involved with designing the new Walther LGV, and he says even an old used FWB 300 in good shape, is worth more than a newer Model for the same money. A super 300 goes for about $30o to $350 here. I want one.
But then the Diana 75 are a tough one to beat.
Decisions....

Okay, the Seller has refunded 100%.
I'm happy.
I was looking at a real cool Diana 75 in good condition, Walnut Stock, with a Guarantee. But the Shop won't tell me what kind of Guarantee, and otherwise poor information. So, I'll pass, because I can't fix them, and for the price, I don't want to even try.
Soon I'll hopefully report of something new and cool for my collection.
