Feinwerkbau 300s..

Oh my, I did it....finally. FWB 300s.
I am joining the club of German Recoilless Match Air Rifles.
It's on the way.
Walnut, good condition, Diopter/Glass as an option, with some kind of muzzle in stainless steel.
Did I do good? Anyone have one?

Welcome to the FWB 300 club, along with the match rifle club. I'm not yet in the club, but I hope to be someday with a 300 mini version to cut down on the weight a bit.
Your new 300 looks to be in really nice shape from the pictures, and the accessories that come with it are a nice bonus. I'm sure its going to be super accurate, especially if you decide to use it scoped. Be sure to let us know how it does on your targets.

Yeah I'm wondering too, if a 10 Meter Rifle can hit an 11 Meter Target. Maybe the cool scope can add a foot or two? But wait, the muzzle will decrease the speed and maybe it'll only be a 9 Meter gun.
I think I ought to get another one.

I just bought 2 gamo 126's, one the Daisy version. We will have to compair rifles. I found a gunsmith in Pennsylvania that still work on these and is repairing them for people in competition. I am away from home right now but I will post pics when I get home.

That SS sleeve looks like it is just to cover the front of the barrel when the front sight is removed.
That is an early rifle without the epoxied on barrel/muzzle weight, which makes it easier to handle for someone not really into competition shooting. Me, I like the barrel weight, as it helps to dampen out the wobbles.
Get a better scope. You can't hit what you can't aim at.
The problem that you will have is scope length. You need to keep the front of the objective bell positioned to leave enough space to load the pellets. I have a Bushnell 4-12x on mine and that scope covers half the loading port, making loading just a bit tricky.

Thanks guys.
ac12, scopes are something I have
no
experience with, and now I understand what the SS muzzle is/does. Since I've had my Walther 55 for a while, I've gotten used to the Diopter and ring piece for the front sight. These pieces let me hit about anything I aim at up to maybe 50ft., even without eyeglasses.
I can understand the advantage of scopes, especially for certain sniping tactics, so I'm looking forward to gaining experience with these things.

you have picked a fine gun! I've had a few 300's and they are supper accurate, mine loved the 8.44gr JSB's and at 10yds was a 1 holer and at 30yds sub dime size groups!

I'm kind of dense.
The gun is a FWB 300,
not a 300s
.
I like the looks of the 300 better anyway.

I kind of thought so but wasn't sure enough to speak up. You're gonna love it; have a 300s here. Not much difference between the two. If using the stock sights I'd like to suggest getting an adjustable diopter on at least the rear but potentially on both ends. I just have the adjustable rear (bought from Creedmore) and acrylic inserts for the front along with a magnifier (from Sinclair I think?). I'm happy with my setup. I'm too "frugal" to spring for the front adjustable diopter as well as it's working for me now. For paper I didn't really want to scope it and even though the gun is "recoiless" the action isn't. I think a cheaper scope wouldn't last long on it. But you're gonna love it!

Makincheez, that's the way I understand it also. The scope thing is new to me, and I can easily imagine I'd have to buy a bunch of them to figure out which one I like or need. The gun has recoil, just the shooter doesn't feel much of it, so playing with unknown scopes kind of scares me away at this point.
I do have Diopter experience, and I like them.
Thanks.

If you get into mini-sniping, you will want a good scope on it.
Even at 12x magnification, at only 10m "tiny" targets are difficult for my middle-age eyes to see.
You can't hit what you can't aim at.
For me it turns out that even with an adjustable rear diopter, I ended up at about the same size as the stock non-adjustable diopter.
It was the front sight insert that needed changing. The guideline that I was given was to select the diameter of the front aperture so that the bull stays inside the aperture most of the time. And since I have a decent wobble, I had to get a larger diameter insert than the stock metal insert. Also the clear plastic inserts are easier to shoot at multi-bull targets, I don't accidentally shoot at the wrong bull.

ac12, I have become to like the "ring inserts" up front. My Walther 55 with the nice adjustable Diopter and the ring up front make for a nice combination for me. The black center of the standard German Target Papers at 10 Meters show up with a slight "corona" of light around the perimeter of the insert. This is just perfect for me at this range. The target center is exactly centered with the insert. So, if I can't hit hole in hole, then it's my fault. Mostly the case.
But when I rest the gun on something....Wow!
PS: I am currently checking out scopes, and a Shop here has Walther Scopes for a decent price. On a German Forum the Walther 6 x 42 was recommended to me.

Very nice gun.
I used to shoot these when I was young and a member of the local Air Rifle Shooting Club and they are extremely accurate when in good condition.
The gun has no problems with making just one hole out of a tin of pellets as long as the pellets are of high quality and the target is within the intended distance.
It is all up to the shooter to make sure the pellets hit the bulls eye :-)
