Alright, so you fine folks helped a newb out and suggested to try a bunch of pellets to find the one that my gun would fall in love with. well the JSB's are still on order (b.o. status) and the Kodiak's haven't arrived yet. But I have a rapidly growing collection of fairly pricey pellet tins accumulating that I really don't know what to do with. Some of which have less than 10 pellets out of the tin.
Today alone I got in 4 tins of various H&N pellets only to like 1 of them. Add those 3 to my existing 6 or 7 of not so great ones and you can see where I'm going, thousands of pellets that are just sitting around never to be sent down my rifles barrel.

So I ask, what do you folks do with all your "not so great" shooting pellets in your quest to find the holy grail for your gun?

Ahhh, just send them to me. I'll find SOMETHING that likes them.

Out of 25 airguns, there's gotta be something around here that can shoot 'em.
Maybe you could do some trading with fellow members. Put a batch together and list them in the Classifieds?

You can always buy more guns to shoot those pellets well.

It's seems to me that you don't have enough guns.

Dave's idea is a great one, I would go with that option.
Another thing you can do is use the not-so-great pellets for general purpose plinking. I don't think soda cans will be upset of the groups of holes aren't great. I do that with my left over test ammo.

What Nikoman typed. Keep them...eventually you'll buy one more airgun....and then a few more. And those pellets will shoot great out of one (Or all) of them.

I knew someone would go there...

My wife would disagree, when u add in all my powder burners she would say I have too many now. I plan on eeking out one more this year but I'm leaning toward marauder now in .25 So I do feel this will probably be my only .177. It serves all my requirements for it, quiet, powerful, accurate, fun to shoot.

Maybe I gotta get my wife into shooting airguns so she can get one and use some of the lighter stuff I cant use in mine.

if you are sure you wont buy another 177 and if you fish. melt the pellets down and pour the melted lead into a table spoon and quinch it in water, then drill a hole in the top of them got ur self plenty of home made weights

lead sinkers are illegal, all part of the clean water act stuff, same stuff that made us waterfowlers have to switch to steel shot for ducks n' geese.

Put the leftover pellets on the Classifieds. I am always interested in high quality .177 pellets.

I knew I liked you for some reason....we waterfowlers need to stick together!

My wife is also an avid duck hunter and she loves all types of shooting, in fact she picked out two of my airguns. She goes to gun shops and browses guns like like it's clothing, LOL.
My wife would say you need to keep those pellets for a rainy day.

ive never heard of that before, just about ammo not being lead anymore.

Not trying to be rude, but why didn't you just order a pellet sampler from straight shooters? This is just one of the samplers that they offer, check them out..

If you pack them correctly were they don't shack in the tins or shack around in the shipping box (use packing foam in tin), you may be able to strike a deal with them towards the price of a sampler, never hurts to ask....just saying...or package in same type of plastic tackle box and do what the other guys said list them here as a sampler to sell.

you can sell them. i would keep them in case i bought another gun. you will won't to test it to see what it likes.

they don't eat much sitting on the shelf.

Nikoman- It's nice to see a fellow waterfowler here. It sounds like you got a mighty fine wife, that even hunts, best mine will do is eat my ducks n' geese. But she has NO interest in getting up at 3:30 to start heading out to the blind in the snow and breaking ice to set decoys. Our early goose opens 1st of Sept. and I cant wait.

Mustangmike- For fishing NY jumped on board around 2004, most other states started following suite around 2006. You would have to check your own state DEC for sure. Since they got their way with hunters it was only a matter of time before fisherman found themselves in the crosshairs. For hunting they didnt want us contaminating their rivers and lakes with lead shot. First ammo folks made steel, it patterned from garbage and ruined alot of older shotties. Then they tried Tungsten Alloy, and some other combos, but steel still is top of majority types out there. Guns have been made better (forcing cones reworked so they dont take as much punishment, etc) And with the newer style chokes patterns are improving. Just another law in our hunting, I'm not against it though I do just fine with my steel. Still got about 30lbs. of goose sausage still in the freezer. And just made up the last of the gadwalls, and goose filets the other night for dinner.

Stu- Not insult taken, quite honestly I didnt even know such a creature existed (premium sampler). Could have saved me a bunch. But it's all good.

I might just post them up, not sure. I just wondered what y'all did, they dont take up space (or east much as aack73 said

Ill hold onto them because you will be getting more air rifles in the future. Sometimes when people ask about pellets or are having trouble ill throw some pellets in bags and send samplers out also. If they are gamo pellets ill either let the kids shoot them or make them into fishing weights.

In reading the OP, I couldn't help feeling that Your perfect pellet for that gun may have been overlooked if you have only shot 10 pellets from each tin. When searching for the perfect fit, I would always clean the barrel, shoot 25 pellets to season the barrel and then shoot five-five shot groups to see how they do. The rest are saved for plinking when on the shelf stock needs replenishment.
