SoCal BenchRest Regional Sept 9 @ Open Grove (Oxnard)

Open Grove will be hosting the Southern California Regional Air-Rifle Benchrest Match on September 9th, start time 9:00am sharp. Please arrive by 7:30am to sign in, draw bench, what relay and certify you are shooting the right class. Considering we only have 5 benches and dependent on how many plan to participate in this event, we will have to limit to 4 relays. It will be an all day event if we run into 4 relays, so be prepared. It would help me be more prepared to have a pre-registration, so please let me know at your earliest convenience either by email at jafracing@hotmail.com or give me a call at 805-444-8521.

The classes in contention will be either LV or HV. You can not shoot in both classes, pick what class you are most comfortable with. There will be practice on Saturday Sept 8th from 9am till 4pm. The range will be closed after 4pm the 8th for preparation for Sundays match.

There will be no entry fee for this event, we will have lunch ( don't know the menu yet till I get a better head count). There will be plaques awarded for 1st-3rd in both classes, plaques for high cards, and a plaque for overall winner. There will also be cash awards given to the top 5 in both classes, high cards and the big one for overall winner. Each participants name will be put in a hat, when drawn they will pick a envelop all containing different amounts of cash . Everyone will win something this way. There will be $1500.00 in cash given away.

I only ask of one thing, that we all help out to make this event run as smooth as it can, and most of all be safe and have fun.

I will put together a list of nearby hotels and post within a few days.

Open Grove Range has 20 shooters signed up for a full field Sept 9. The Range is currently being expanded to 10 benches in the usual top class style Joe F is known for. This world class facility is getting doubled in size just so Joe can make sure nobody is stressed out getting home. For those that haven't shot the facility it is on Joes Ventura County Farm with inland switch6y breezes making the shooting very interesting to do and an extreme challenge. I found it one of the best facilities to train at because it was one of the most challenging places and made you become extremely catious and patient to have any measure of success. This is anything but BR DOWN THE ORANGE TREE ROWS. THIS WILL BE A GREAT EVENT FOR SURE. The following is from Joe F and his assistant match director Linzie B;

 We plan to have open practice on Sat Sept. 8. Everyone is welcome to come . Those who attend will draw their bench and relay to speed things along on Sunday . On Sunday we will get all the relays set and assigned to a pre stage area where all guns and tanks will be kept. There will be 2 pre stage areas one for each relay . only guns , tanks and rest,bags shall be kept there all case's shall be kept in your cars please .we will have  10 mins to switch relays . those sharing gear  please advise match director asap please .

checkin will start at 7:30 am ,as soon as you are checked in you will be asked to bring your gun and pellets to be weighed and chronied . then please take your  gear to your pre stage area . all those not shooting and wish to watch shall be asked to sit on the road behind the shooting area please.  There will be chairs provided. This area gets shaded AM but it will be Sunny in the PM

WE NEED ALL SHOOTERS TO CONTACT JOE OR MYSELF AS TO WHICH CLASS YOUR SHOOTING IN ASAP.  There are two classes. HV is 20 fpe guns weighing less than 15 lbs with scope. LV is a 10.5 lb gun(with scope) that shoots 12 fpe or less. You can only shoot one class.

All shooters will be given 5min. notice prior to the 10 min. setup period if you are not ready at the end of 10 min. you miss the relay .At the end your relay please remove your gear promptly .  You can step away from bench if you are done shooting but you wait till time has expired before switching gear.

IF YOU HAVE A PROTEST DO NOT HOLD UP RELAYS PLEASE CLEAR YOUR GEAR AND NOTIFY THE MATCH DIRECTOR . 
the scoring area is off limits to shooters ,please let them do their job so they can keep posting scores . on your last relay you will asked to bring your gun to the impound area if you  are in the top 4 of your class . all top class finishers guns and pellets will be weighed and chronied prior to awards presentation .
