Carbine length barrel versus full length??

Caliber best suited for this rifle?  I have other rifles for fur versus feather etc etc so which caliber shoots the best in this platform

                How come did you ended up to this model - i.e. what did you like more in the HW77 compared to other Weihrauch models?  The overall looks?  The shape of the stock (classic lines etc)   The existance of open sights?   Your own personal preferences in shooting will show you the way towards the right choices.

I am second guessing the caliber of the HW97 in 20 cal I bought....If I am going to buy another it might as well be slightly different.  leaning toward a .177 for the powerplant of the rifle....just have to decide barrel length

full length is 170 MM longer wow than my 97 thats like almost 6 3/4 of inch more

Only thing I will comment to this post is the HW77 seems to be the platform for alot of models in the Weihrauch lineup.  This gun model has been around from the early 90's that I know of and probably even further back and for a reason.  If it shoots like my HW97k which that gun is a derivative/spin off to a degree then it is worth putting in the stable for sure.

Oh, also I see the HW77 and HW97 in .20 caliber are rated at same 820 fps.  So I assume the spring power in these are exact and regardless of the caliber both would perform identical.

That being said you are looking away from a .20 caliber since your HW97k is in .20 caliber.  I think if your looking to target mainly then go .177 but if you may look to hunt too then definitely .22 in this platform.

        You are in the right path.  The standard version  (full length barrel) in 0.177" (4,5 mm) is the best for all your shooting needs. The key word here is "cocking lever length" which in turn makes cocking easier especially if you shoot a lot.

I agree, and believe the longer barrel has minimal impact on accuracy. My .77 HW77K was made in 1984, was never tuned and still will keep up with the PCP's in the accuracy department.

Well guys went out to buy a .177 in long barrel ....with my luck no more in .177.  They had long barreled 22 cals they were an awesome dark color.  The .177 Karbine model was very light in color plus seemed to not be as steady when holding it.  The long barrel sights actually focused for my eyes if I got the short barrel and moved the sight 4 inches it was all fuzzy to my eyes.  The rear sight was already on the narrowest notch so that took it down to only one choice ....I left with a long barreled 20 caliber

Congrats on the new HW77.  Even if it wasn't in your preferred .177 cal, I think you still did well getting it in .20 cal.  After all, you have plenty of pellets on hand from shooting your HW97 and your 34K.

Since you were looking for a high quality gun with open-sight capability, it seems you made a good choice. With being able to see the sights in focus on the long version, that trumps everything. 

Let us know how the 77 compares to the 97 and your other .20 cal.

I was looking for something different than the HW97K and the long barrel was it....When the wifes not around I will clean the barrel and try it out some.  No sense pointing a new rifle out to her ....I wish the stock was like the 22 cal ones he had they were a rich much darker color almost red mahogney in color but I wanted a flatter trajectory.

The D34K is apart I need to send the piston off to get properly inlet and buttoned

             I wish you many-many accurate shots with your new air rifle!   It's a pitty that you did not find the one you were looking for but if you are pleased everything is OK.
         The position of the rear sight in the HW 77 or 77K is not the best one. The distance from the shooter's eye to the rear sight notch is too short for most people's eyes making difficult to achieve a decent sight picture. I own a HW 77 in 0.177" cal and I know the issue first hand. In my opinion the best way to benefit from the use of open sights in a HW 77 is by installing a peep sight (diopter sight) or by modifying the existing rear sight so that it resembles a peep sight. For your information the  HW 77 front sight can be easily removed (it secures into place with a small allen bolt) and replaced with the "traditional" Weihrauch tunnel front sight with interchangeable inserts - the same one used in HW 35, HW 50S, HW 30S, HW 80, HW 95 Luxus.

I have a Mendoza Peep in the drawer.....they are usually too high in this case that is a positive trait.  IT also looks like a Diana Globe will fit as well but the one I have is the tallest one which may be too high

Mendoza peep!? Lucky dawg....hard to find these days...no matter how hard I search in my parts bin's.

I grabbed one last time Pyramid had them last year.  I didn't need it at the time but they would go out of stock for long periods before that so I jumped on them .
