Carbon Fiber Goodness(and a nice Walther Force 1000 tune)

So anyways a customer of mine was wanting some shroud work done on his Walther force 1000 (basically a tf-89/rs2 clone but on steroids...)
all of the internal tuning was basically identical to this thread here
http://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php/topic,5922.0.html
with a few minor changes because the action is quiet a bit longer then the stock rs2/tf-89 here are a couple comparison pics of the actions side by side RS2 on the top Walther on the bottom
can see here while the trigger group is in the same location the Walther has about a half inch longer stroke
and a good side by side disassembled view that really shows how much longer the Walther tube and piston is.
this poor piston had some NASTY burrs and a very bad seal
So anyways that all got cleaned up and fitted for a new maccari seal as per the RS2 build thread.
Next up was some carbon fiber goodness... the shroud body was made from 1"OD thick walled REAL CF tubing and the ends where machined from black delrin. A few crappy during pics and then a couple good finished product pics
fitting the end caps and boring to barrel diameter and exit hole
now ends turned to final diameter of the shroud and last fitting
and here she is with about 8 coats of automotive clear all purty up and in the sun!!!
All in all I say she turned out real nice looking and after the tune in which I detuned the gun to shoot right at 930 fps so as she breaks in it should end up right at about 950 fps which is as fast as I think anyone should be driving a pellet especially if your going for accuracy.... If you're shooting faster then that then you should move to heavier pellet so your not flirting with that transonic barrier and blowing your accuracy to *(&^... she shoots as good as she looks

This is my personal gun. Missed this post but must say the work was excellent, and she shoots as good as she looks.

Awesome Jeff!!! dunno how I missed your reply but this is a blast from the past thread!!!!!
I am glad she is still running good for you!! *(&^ thats 4 years ago!!!
If I remember correctly you had to wait long enough for me to finish this gun because my leadscrew nut on my cross slide gave out on me and grizzly screwed me around for like 2 months before they got one sent out to me.... kept telling me they would be back in stock in 2 weeks... for like 2 or 3 months ... I was so mad!!!

Excellent work on the barrel and the tuning. I buddy of mine just inherited an old Walther Force 1000, and we are looking to tune the gun up. Looking for the the tuning kit (seals and spring). Do you know where we can get them from? Better yet, do you have the part numbers?

to replace the stock seal you will need to find a seal for a tf-89..... if you follow the link in the first post of the thread you will see where I convert these guns to a more common "donut" type seal from maccarri (the type of seal most your gamo's and crosman etc. use)
as far as the spring goes if its broken I BELIEVE the tf89 spring will work though it may be a bit short and need some preload or it may lose a bit of FPS... though to be honest that would be a good thing in these guns....... generally though the springs on this series of guns seem to last a good long while and dont break often and you will be fine with just polishing the ends and using the spring in it....

Michael,
Thanks for the info on the seal and spring. My buddy came over yesterday and we shot the force 1000 about 40 times since it had been sitting for 10+ years, it shot strong to our surprise! One thing very noticeable was the cocking effort needed to cock the barrel. Seems like all of it's lube had been completely dried up, alot of metal to metal feel on the cocking stroke. I'm thinking this gun all it really needs is breaking it down, a good cleaning and re-lubing all the necessary parts. A couple patches thru the barrel and reassemble it back together and test it. Mind you, we shot about 40 pellets at 15 yds and got about 1/2" groups with a cheapy fixed 4x32 scope it came with. The gun does seem to have alot of power as the recoil seems fairly strong. Hopoing that after a good internal cleaning and lube job she settles down and smooths out.

Michael, this is an old thread but that Walther turned out S-W-E-E-T!!!!
Great revisit.
I love the look of real CF tubing. I use it too.
