NPSS CENTERPOINT SCOPE

CAN SOMEONE TELL ME WHAT THE SMALL PHILLIPS SCREWS IN THE ELEVATION, AND WINDAGE TURRETS ARE FOR ON MY CENTERPOINT 3X9X40 AO SCOPE THAT COMES WITH THE CARBON FIEBER NPSS .22       HOW ARE THEY USED?

Bob, I don't have that particular Centerpoint scope, but I have noticed them in the photos of the NPSS rifles so equipped.
I am going to speculate that they are there to secure the w/e adjustment caps to the underlying turret system.
I wouldn't mess with those screws unless I were certain what the consequences would be first.

I have the same rifle, I think they may be to allow you to set the knobs to zero once you have it sighted in. Haven't tried it yet.
I am having a lot of trouble getting mine to shoot consistently so I am aways from trying to set the knobs to zero.

oh no, are the W/E knobs turning, but not clicking??? mine do that sometimes. I have an NP with that same scope. I think that i'm going to CHUCK mine and fish around for a better one.....also seems that i have to zero my scope everytime i go to shoot cause the elevation is slightly off, do you have this problem at all. I'm kinda hoping its the scope....

Those screws are for setting things to a zero point after you have the gun zeroed to the yardage that you want. Lets say that you have sighted the gun for dead on at 35yds. Now loosen the screws and pull up on the turrets a tad and turn them to the zero mark. ("0"). Tighten the screws down again. Now you have a point to return to if you decide to turn up or down a few clicks. works great.

The centerpoint scope that came with my remington npss went bad after about 50 shots the first time shooting it.  The reticle shifted to the right to about 1:00 position.  Called their customer service next day.  Lady I talked to was real nice and said too send it back.  Cost about $7.00.  Took about a week and I got an upgrade scope the adventure class with lighted reticle.  Also got 500 pellets and a bottle of chamber lube.  I was surprised at the great service to go along with a great gun.

I have that same scope, never mounted.  I can't find any info on that exact model, or anyone that sells it by itself, only the new illuminated reticle models, which I want to upgrade to.  Anyone know what the one that came on the NPSS is worth?  I'm going to put it up for sale...

Were you to mount the scope and it went bad after a while, a return to Crosman would get you the illum. version of the same scope. Personally, I haven't much for the illuminated reticle, and it's a non-issue with me. However, after the 3-9X40 illum. scope went bad on me(XL1100), I called them, they didn't care if I returned that one or not, and they let me trade even-up for the 4-16X40 illum. Which they sent me! It has held up well so far and for whatever reason, most of the folks here have had better luck with them on the magnums. I really can't say enough positive things about their customer service team.

The CenterPoint that came with my NPSS has 2 screws in the windage & elevation knob, so how can you loosen them and rotate the knob to zero? I would understand how it would work if it had 1 screw in the center. Well it may not matter as mine failed over the weekend and it was shipped back to Crossman today. The problem I ran into was the AO as it kept climbing. The focus was OK at first but  it started to climb, 10 yards went to 30 and so on. Over the weekend the focus for 50 yards was at infinity and it was still a little out of focus. Now I will wait to see what the ship me!

In case they send you the same 'two screw' target turret style scope. The CenterPoint on my XL has two small philips screws in each turret knob.

The center disc part in the knob, where the screws are, is a separate piece from the knob, but sometimes it's stuck in the knob so you may think it's all one piece. When the knob and center disc are loose from each other you can turn the knob without turning the center disc, which is attached by those two screws to the actual windage/elevation adjustments underneath the target knobs.

After you've got your scope zeroed at the range you want to shoot at, just loosen the two screws a couple of turns, wiggle the knob to loosen it from the center disc, then turn the knob so that it's 'zero' lines up with the slash mark on the rear side of each turret. Push the knob back down and re-tighten both screws. Your scope is now 'zeroed' for that distance.  

Then, if you make changes in the scope's elevation (or windage) for differences in distance to target, you can dial the knobs back to the 'zero' settings you originally had it set to.

Thanks Paul, I had contacted Crossman by E Mail and they said to loosen the screw and when I sent a reply to that E Mail saying my scope had two screws they replied saying "sorry we gave you the info for a different scope" but forgot to give me any other info. I was going to reply to their last E Mail but the scope AO focus failed before I got the chance. We'll see what I receive in its place. If it has the 2 screws like the 1st one now I will know how they work.
