ANYONE SEEN A HW90 GATHERING DUST.....

Hi German people, I have switched gears and (instead of the rsw 350) I'm on the hunt for a used (new is just too expensive) hw90 in .22 cal.  Does anyone here know of anyone will to sell (for a fair price) or any place I can spend some time looking?? They seem like a fairly rare commodity. I've been doing some research and this gun sounds and looks awful nice.....I just think the German guns are hands down the greatest thing going. I used to marvel (and wonder if they had all their marbles) at the guys who had a list of guns under their name and wonder why does anyone need so many.....well now I know! CUZ THEY ARE FRIGGIN AWESOME!!! Thanks guys.

You won't find any dust on mine! It's my 3rd favorite shooter.

These are rare in the used market and for good reason. They HIT HARD and have a very solid build quality. Their accuracy is underrated and the only beef I have with mine is the balance, it doesn't seem to have the 50/50 weight distribution like my BMW.

I would consider a .25. I was looking for a .22 due to the flatter trajectory but am not opposed to turning up the volume, especially if someone could point me in the right direction for a great hunting pellet with a fairly flat trajectory out to about 50-100 yards or so.

My favorite shooters are my British guns. I love the way the Bearcub swings around and shoulders quickly for a shot, the safety is manual and it can be de-cocked in an instant. It's a fantastic field gun and it has devastating power for it's compact size and weight. It's basically the size of an R7 with the power of an R9 and it's not pellet fussy. My favorite shooter is the Theoben, it is out of this world. I love my Germans but my fancy is tickled with these British guns.
The build quality is nothing short of amazing. Do I need to say more? The gas rams are awesome and it's Theoben we have to thank for this and that's the heart of the HW90/RX series as well.

JSB just gave everyone a lesson in .25 caliber pellets. They are a perfect balance of not-too-light and not-too-heavy. They are so good that PA can't keep them in stock for long. But you won't get a flat enough trajectory with that caliber and rifle combo @50-100yds. You are entering rimfire territory there.

IME 'adequately flat' means 850 fps. 900 fps is of course better and much more pushes you too close to the trans sonic region where the shockwave will make things unstable. For a 21-23 FPE rifle that means 20 cal with JSB ammo is The Way. I have a 20 cal RX2 and it does not gather any dust. It shoots best with a heavy scope( currently a 4-16x56 Leapers SWAT ). Go to .22 and you'll loose the higher basistic coefficient the 20 cal rounds can deliver if you keep weight down to keep speed up. Now at shorter ranges, the larger cross section of the 22 cal is less of an issue( and actually a potential benefit if you are after critters ). A 13 gr .22 pellet can run to 900 FPS in such a rifle and will make one heck of an 'Owie' on that SFC you're aming at...

I believe the .20 is Dr. Robert Beeman's favorite caliber, he casually mentioned it in the past in some of his writings. Another guy who swears by this caliber is Ben Taylor. Anything that is good enough for those guys is more than good enough for me. I never got around to it but I was going to acquire another Theoben/Crow Magnum but this time in .20 caliber to compliment my .25, one can't have too many guns.
The .20 carries the flattest trajectory and the absolute most downrange energy of all the calibers for that rifle beyond 50 yards (we're talking extremely long ranges). In fact, the .22 doesn't have a prayer beyond 50 yards vs. the proven .20 caliber. The .20 is my favorite as well, if I can only own one rifle it would be a .20 Beeman/Theoeben Crow Magnum III, it would have to be the older Beeman imported version since I like the Hyedua stock rather than the current walnut offering. When I finally acquire that .20 CrowMag, my RX-1 will not only collect dust, it will certainly be sold within minutes.
In one of the old Beeman catalogs there's an off-hand 10-shot group by Ben Taylor with a Crow MagnumII rifle in 20 caliber. The group was a scary looking single hole that was just unbelievable.
I knew all this back then but I still chose the .25 because of the closer range shooting I do and nothing hits harder than that chunk of lead.
I would personally choose the .20 if you can find a used HW90/RX-1 or 2 (all 3 are the same gun), if not get what you can, 22 or 25 depending on how you shoot. Caliber is really a personal thing, some people like to hunt/stalk to get close and choose bigger lead to sling (like I do). Or you can sling the smaller lead at longer distances. All the calibers are good in this gun except the .177, it literally goes supersonic with some pellets and that's not a good thing.
