Surprised my HW30S loves them

I've been shooting my HW30S daily since I acquired it and am having a blast!  I ended up putting a Leapers Bug Buster 3-9x32 on it--mostly because I shoot indoors about 99% of the time and the Bug Buster allows me to set the parallax clear down to just 3 yards if I want to.   Having a scoped Weihrauch for short distance indoors plinking is massive overkill but I figure having fun is what it's all about.

Anyway I've been going through my collection of pellets trying everything to see what works for me.  I've tried 8 or 10 brands, models, weights and had pretty much settled on JSB Match Exact 8.4s (although it really seems to like RWS Meisterkugeln Pistol (7.0) wadcutters, too).

So while shooting last night I came across a tin of Crosman Premier Hollowpoints (7.9) and gave them a try.  I didn't expect much because I had to fiddle with them more than usual to seat them in breech and it didn't feel like they naturally go in straight like the JSBs.  I was very pleasantly surprised to see how they grouped!  Now I can't get too excited because the distance was only 25' and I'm using a scope but I'm happy with the results just the same--especially since I can get the pellets at Walmart for $7 a tin (last time I was there anyway).

5 shot group -- standard NRA 10 meter air rifle target.  So yeah--a precision German air rifle with a nice scope shooting *hollowpoints* at a piece of paper 25' away.  I like it!  At the same time I'm very aware that there are many, many of you who can shoot a group like this at a truly impressive distance--something that never fails to amaze me.

My R7 in .20 will shoot minute of squirrel ear with almost any pellet you shove in it. The little beauties are certainly a blast to shoot.

I don't doubt what your .20 will do.  I've been amazed at the accuracy of these!  I'm also keenly aware that I'm just an average shot and can't hold a candle to most people who are really into it.  But having said that I certainly appreciate having a rifle that I *know* is much more accurate than I am.  It's a lot easier to increase your skill when improved consistency in your technique pays off instantly instead of having to wonder if it was the gun or me.

I started slowly drifting back into airguns after a mtn-bike induced shoulder injury ended my skeet-shooting days.  Even 50 rounds of 9mm or .45 will have me aching the next day and paying an $18 range fee to shoot (even a nice) .22 seems pretty excessive.  It did take me 5 or 6 years to get to the point where I decided to invest in a Weihrauch and I'm glad I finally did.  The almost total lack of recoil from the HW30S is perfect for me and at the distances I'm shooting there is power to spare.  We do get field mice in the garage from time to time so this will be perfect for those occasions as well.  Since I live in a 'burb of Dallas that happens to be overrun with transplanted BB-gun fearing folks I can't even wander into the yard with an air rifle without having to worry about the imminent arrival of a SWAT team so indoors it stays.   

BTW, I ran by Walmart and snagged a couple more tins of the CPHPs at $6.47 for 500ct.  A hard deal to beat!

 most HW barrels will shoot the Crosman pellets very well! thats all I use in my guns! and good there!

I use the Cross Premier Hollow Points in both my 177 Quest and in my 34 Diana Panther in 22 with very good accuracy in both. They also are a very hard hitting. Many a grackle and a garden thieving bunny and that's with the 177.
