1973 Blue Streak

hey-Hey!!!,
I got the 5D-SH installed and a .053" apreture custom made. Put the front post and the rear apreture in the lamp flame to black it and eliminate glare( learned on the range on MCRD PI ). I shot these two at 20 and 45 yards yesterday. 6 pumps at the 20 yard and 7 with a bit of hold over for the 45 yard. I am quite pleased with these( thanks for the sweet shooter Pual68!!! ). They were benched on a TackDriver and a picnic table.

And now to move the sights jus' a wee bit so POI shifts to the right. This is going to require a depth mic to confirm windage movement on the 5D sight. Got to figure some way to put a FP-GR-TK on...machine an 11mm dovetail bit and screw-glue it to the action perhaps?

So far I've just treated it to a stiff dose of 30 wt. Bel-Ray fork oil as instructed by Tim. I'm a bit afeared to mess with is as it is doing very well now. With 10 pumps in it it shoots a JSB out at 700 fps. 12 pumps I have not chronied, but it retains just a wee bit of pressure( as evidenced by cocking and dry firing after a 12 pump shot ).

I'll have you know that this rifle's performance lead to my first negative on another BOI for saying I wanted my money back for a Silver Streak shotgun I bought offa that site's classifieds with a WTB...

Sounds like you already have one of the sweetest Blue Streaks in your possession.  I've found it's quite a hit and miss venture to find the truly accurate Sheridans, although even the less accurate ones are enjoyable in their own right (to me anyway).  Ironically I also bought a "shotgun" Silver Streak", but in my case, the seller went out of his way to make sure I knew what I was getting.  It cost a bit less than yours, and I figured it was worth the risk.  I'm still working on a solution to the accuracy issue, but enjoy owning it all the same.  If I do manage to solve the issue, it will have been quite a bargain in the end.  If not, then it'll be one of the prettier wall decorations I own.

What a great gun. Ironically my pops taught me to shoot with a Sheridan in 1973. I was only only 6 years old so  I don't recall the exact year it was made.

Going to visit the one I grew up with over the 4th Vacation. I can't wait to shoot it again, and have the boy and his Grandfather do some shooting together. Going to bring the RX2 cannon too...

Is it common for these guns to not shoot so well?  I got a a blue streak and cant get it to shoot nearly as well as my Gamo springer or Crosman titan.  Not sure if it my eyes or what.

not common at all, all mine are tack drivers , you may have to do some research to see why yours doesnt shoot as well

I actually have done a decent amount of research and had quite a bit of help from Pak Protector.  Found my gun has barrel separation and really needed a good cleaning.  Also tried JSB pellets and they are shooting much better than the Benjamin cylindricals I started with.  Now clean, the gun seems to shoot much better with 8 pumps than 4 or 5.  Still sorting it out, but optimistic that it will be a good accurate gun.

A bit ago I went playing with the '73 and the Chrony. Started warming up the tube and increasing the pumps one at a time and shooting before it could cool. by the time the bottom of the pump tube was around 120F ( estimated ) I tried a 14 pump shot with a 14.75 gr Sheridan cylindrical( old yellow box ) and got 18 PFE out of it. Took a second shot w/o any more pumping and it sent the round downrange at 515 fps...I am looking forward to a Mac1 Steroid valving... and extended pump arm. I could imagine a fair variation in velocity as it warms up or if I were to allow it to cool betwen shots.
