NEW Crosman .22 Distroyer target results .... WOW !!

Received my 3+1 tins of Crosman .22 cal DISTROYERS today from P/A, so just before sunset went out to see how they did at 50 yards 

Filled the M-rod to 2500# which is it's sweet spot of tune for slinging the PREFERRED pellet, the JSB 18.1 exact at @ 850 fps. ( Shot over chrony at 854 this target )
* Just to establish a KNOWN base line shot 5 JSB exacts at 50 yards and that Target shown below 

Next 5 changing nothing in tune shot the .22 Distroyers at a fresh target ( Shot over the chrony at 925 fps this target )

  Just WOW ... what a mess with only 4 hitting paper and a real flyer hitting edge of my oak target box taking a chunk out of the side of it !! ... dang it 
Granted flinging the little 14+ grainers pretty fast ( Hunting pellets right ? ) .... but then again in hunting terms not really that crazy fast either IMO.

Targets speak for them self .... at least at these velocities in a rifle that can back up it's self for superb accuracy .... these pellets not so good BIG TIME !!!

BTW ... bullseye of targets shown is diameter of a Lincoln Penny !

*** Next test will be SLOWING them way way down and see if they will even print groups worth there using them at all

I bought 3+1 tins at PA also for my discovery and they shot all over the place and I was only around 20 yards away .I bought them for a little over $21 and sold 3 tins for $15 and then had to pay $8 and something shipping all the way to the way to Ca. and I live in NC.I definitely am not happy.

So the gun's preferred velocity is 850 and they shot at 925. Hmmm. Lighter pellets going faster. I wonder if there is a correlation. I know you said you'd retry at slower speeds. I'd like to see what happens at differing velocities. That and more of them thru the barrel to season it to the pellets.
But for one test that isn't very good for the DEstroyer pellet.

I think the guys who have luck with Destroyers are using lower power springers and co2. They don't work worth a darn in any of my guns.

All my .177 rifles that like Destroyers are all sub-700 fps shooters. I would think the .22's would be similar, maybe 500 to 600 fps.

I've had the same experience with the Destroyers. Maybe they might be accurate in the P-rod.

My modded 1377 shoots the .177 Destroyers great and it shoots around 650-700 fps at the max.

More thought I do about it ? ..... figure WHY would anyone do a substantial DE-TUNE to a hunting rifle just so it will shoot a particular pellet ?
Ballistics decline, POI drops quicker, really NOTHING to be gained doing so IMO.

Will be selling three 175 count tins + 1 short @ 30 pellets shortly

Wanted to add that I investigated further WHAT was happening flight wise with them AFTER DARK
Mounted my flashlight and set at Spot Beam going out into the blackness of night emptying a magazine watching threw the scope as pellets lit from behind disappeared down range 
CORKSCREWS ... Big helix corkscrew flight path with every destroyer pellet shot

Same here...the Destroyers (.177) do not shoot well from either of my AirRifles but they shoot great out of my boys Ruger Explorers....best pellet for the Explorers that I've shot yet !

.25 Destroyers shoot terribly in my Marauder at about 835 FPS.  I mean TERRIBLY.

I have not tried the .22, but I can say I have tried the .177 destroyers.
Through the 350 when stock, 19 fpe...at 8-10 ft went through a 2x4. The ring did not come with it only the pointy part and skirt. At close range, seem extremely damaging.  Loud as heck..supersonic.. But at 10 yards none of my guns print them worth a darn.

No luck with em in 177. All over the place at about 900FPS. Haven't seen anything but bad reviews about the 22's.

When the distroyers first came out been some time now they were real good and several of my springers loved them. I have noticed the quality going south on them and have a tin on hand of the newer destroyers. I can find nothing in my stable that will shoot them with anykind of accuracy. Ed

I still have half a tin of 177's going on 6 months old. Occasionally I'll try em again just for grins, and always the same results.

Hey guys. These pellets do wonders in my prod. But they lose it over 20 yards. But most my shooting is 10-15 yards anyway. They are devastating when they do connect.

It makes sense that they don't handle high velocity well, considering they're essentially wadcutters with a little dimple point.  Wadcutters in general don't like high velocities.

H&N makes a similar pellet now called Terminators. I haven't tried them but they might work better than the destroyers. they have a few good reviews on PA so far

At 25 yards I couldn't keep 5 of them on a 8.5"x11" piece of paper.  That's from a TF87 that puts some pellets in .3" at that distance, so I know it wasn't just me

You guys have me wanting to pick up a tin of the . 22 cal just to try.  I've seen some pretty devastating examples with ballistic gel, clay, etc.  Sure would be a happy marriage if they shoot well in a particular gun.  They're about 50% more expensive than the ubiquitous CPHPs but the smallish 175ct tin is under $5 at Walmart.com ($0.97 home shipping or free site-to-store) so it's not too expensive to give them a try.

It's either like setting fire to a $5 bill or just skipping out on one small margarita at the restaurant, depending on how you look at it.
