scope mount advice?

Hi guys. I will order a scope in a few days. I need an advice wich scope mount to get. the scope will be Hawke Airmax MAP 6 4-12x-40AO. I was thinking about this setup:

Can someone confirm that with the HM17021S - 11mm to Picantiny/Weaver + HM7101 - Two Piece (Low), I will have a clearance between Scope and barell or should I go with medium hight? also will I avoid problems with mechanical sight with medium mount?
 
What do you think about this setup? I have all possible adjustments with this, I can manage barell drop, I can move the scope to adjust for eye relief and it should be creep free?

BTW I just found on the net that HM5207 weaver mount is more suited for airguns, is this true?

I have that adapter and the screws stripped out from just a moderate amount of tightening. Now I use the Beeman 5039 one piece adjustable mount for all new purchases.

I have that exact setup on my RWS 52 - right down to the 4x12 scope. I don't remember which rings I used, as Richard aka "Bookdoc" aka nowadays as "Airscopes" put together the whole setup for me. Maybe he'll chime in here, or I'm sure you could PM him.
 DMIKE - which gun ate your mount? I used a FAT wrench to put mine on. The dovetail I put on with 35 inch pounds without any miscues. Seems to be holding right where I put it. (could be poor QC on Hawke's part maybe - but I'm betting they buy their mounts from elsewhere)

Didn't even get to mount a scope on it. As I was tightening the mount to the rail the screw just striped out. I suppose I could retap it and try again.

it looks very nice. I have a few questions just to be sure. on the photo is it 40mm or 50mm scope? If it's 50mm than I guess the low HM7101 is more than OK. I'm just worried about the mechanical aim. do I have to remove it because it may be in the way?
also as I understand you use the normal 11mm to weaver not the extended one. So you have enough room to slide back so you get good eye relief?

I used the same adaptor and low rings on both 50 and 40 AO's.. I had room to move scope back some more but it gave me the eye relief I needed. It may not work for you since we may be built different in shoulders and arm lenth.... With my cheek on the comb I was looking dead on into scope. Very comfortable setup for me.

I think I'm totaly unlucky. Deben webpage (dealer for Hawke in UK) changed their page today and they don't have the 11mm to weaver adjustable base from Hawke in offer and I was just about to order :-(.

hi guys. I was lucky. They still have a few of bases so I ordered all the items I needed. It's being sent.
Today I finished finally my rifle rest so I wanted to work a little on the gun and remove the original dovetail base. I removed the 3 screws but the base is not popping out  . It looks to me that a significant force is going to be needed to remove it which would mean I'm going to damage the "paint" (hopefully only to the base not the gun) .
Do you have some advice on this matter?

edit: I managed to get the base out last night. I put the stoper pin in the thread and started turning. it pushed half of the base out. then I pull it out. Luckily I didn't scrape anything.

hi guys. I finally received the items.

I have a question regarding the dovetail to weaver base. As I understand the longer part of weaver base comes on the side of the barrel because the stop pin is then on the opposite side and can't be moved to the other side because on the other side is the screw to manage the elevation and as I see it's a different diameter?
I don't get it, if this is the case what's the point of longer weaver base because actually now it is in the way and I cannot move the scope more to the eye. the only solution is to use medium high mounts or to chop the base little   or not to use the stop-pin  
I attached the pics.

BTW there is a picture of my gun and I'm wondering what is the little hole for in front of the stop-pin hole? it seems that there is a thread inside.

BTW2 ;-): I didn't get any instructions on mounting the base so if you can explain to me. do I first tighten the 4 bolts for the base and then manage the elevation bolt or do I just slightly tighten the 4 and then set the elevation and tighten everything?
What happens if the barrel drop is on the opposite side of the elevation bolt? Or is there a lower setting on that side to manage for this?

Are you able to use stop-pin on your AG with this setup because I'm not able to. It's at the wrong place/side on the base :-(. I don't know if it will slip because i'm not able to test yet, it's raining for weeks already :-(.
also, i'm not shure if I don't use the elevation screw, is the base in 0 elevation, becuse to me it doesn't seem so?
if I leave the elevation screw inside and I cannot use stop-pin, if the base starts to move, it could damage the AG metal part allot.

yes, it fits, but there is a very limited space between the scope and the base for adjusting the elevation screw. I bought another inbus for this screw and I will try to chop it so it fits in between. also a downside of this base is that I'm not able to use stop-pin. What do you think about drilling another hole for the stop-pin in the base? The problem is, I would need to be very precise I guess, and I'm not shure that the normal drill "press" (I don't know how you call the tool that drill fits in and you have a knob to lower it to drill a hole) is good for this. cheers
