HW30s/HW50s Cocking lever Insert. VIdeo Will not Happen.

Today I attempted to install the cocking lever insert in my 50s.
I thought I had it...it got caught in the cocking slot and and took me two hours to get it out.
Cut my hands to pieces....blood on my Hw.... ....too much trouble.

I'm done, All i want to do is shoot..not wrench.

I did get my Vortek kit installed..

I've had some snags while home-tuning my own guns.  I spent close to 8 hours trying to figure out the trigger on my Titan.  Sorry you ran into the trouble.  Don't worry about the video.  Put on a few band-aids and go out and shoot to improve your mood!

Been thinking it might be easier to just relieve the area of the  cocking lever a slight bit and polish and reblue ,It don't seem like it would take much to dremel a slight bit and radius it to the tube so it don't dig , just a thought . ~BS50

I'm with you brother...this one bit me hard.   I think i'm going to put some rounds through it...then take off the stock & mark the cocking arm with some yellow paint. Then i will know exactly where it's rubbing. I would also take a little off the end of the cocking foot...the surface that rides against the inside of the cocking slot.
But that's another day.
I'm going to go watch some TV and Cuddle with my wife.  That's what i need right now.

Was there a difference in the cocking lever between your 30S and 50S that made the 50S so much more difficult?

I have a fairly new 30S and the lever insert sitting on my bench but I'm not yet convinced that I want to tear into it.  Especially if removing a little material from the area where they rub would be an easier fix.

  I stopped with my HW30s. The PITA was not worth the effort.  I doubt I'll live long enough for it to be a huge problem.

I tried using a dremel to trim and re-shape the cocking lever, but that alone didn't do the trick.  The rubbing continued.

It did, however, make it easier to install the JM cocking lever insert, which did fix the problem.

That this well-known problem persists on such a popular HW airgun is disappointing.

I could hear the scraping  ever so slightly on my 50S  a few weeks ago if i held the triger and moved the bbl back and foth thru the cocking stroke, ,but now with a few hundred more shots thru her i can no longer hear any noticable contact ~~BD50

aouuch petey . do you need a blood trasfusion ? that dont feel good . hope you got some comfort from the wife . i hope you get her smoothed up some and soon
