My cheap Beeman P17 is a lot of fun to shoot and great for backyard plinking. I got to thinking it might be more fun if it was .22 instead of .177. I had a 2240 barrel laying around so I machined it to fit the P17. I made it a direct drop in fit. I did not re-blue the barrel but I did polish it. I like it! The chrony says 11.9gr RWS hobby pellets shoot at a very consistent 320fps at the muzzle. Best of all, I get a much more satisfying "smack" while killing cans in the yard!

Nice job, did you use a larger spring?

Not sure what you mean? The P17 is a single stroke pneumatic, no spring.

That is exactly what I thought would make the p17 perfect. Make it easier to load and have a nice little thump. Was it difficult to machine? Would you be willing to do others?

converting to 22 makes a good really better. there was a gun back when the M2K4 came out that IIRC used PB 22 cal barrels. he made some stock size and maybe 4-5" longer. the extra length gave higher fps but cocking was compromised because it would hit the trigger guard.
I have one on my M2K4 and have never put the stock barrel back on.
I'm sure if you make some , they will sell. you wont get rich but those who buy one wont complain.

4-5 inches longer seems to be silly, but 2 inches would just stick out of the end and allow for a proper front sight to be mounted. Stock, the gun does about 2.5 ft-lbs, and getting it to 3.0 would be a nice improvement. If that's possible, that is.
Are there any reasonable mods to the compression chamber that could increase the power a bit?
