With today being such a nice day, I built a fire and did some Dutch oven cooking. First time since last spring.

First was a pot of goulash and then and couple of batches of pigs in the blankets.

Goulash came out mighty tasty. The pigs N blanket will be breakfast in the morning.

Best part of this beautiful day was I finally got the gopher that has been tunneling up my yard for the past few months.

Sorry boys (or girls),  I didn’t shoot it with a pellet gun. Rattle snakes, skunks and gophers all rate number 2 steel shot out of a 12 gauge.

Hmmm pig's in the blanket,not much better than that, look's good Bro.! Sure is alot of gopher left for a hit from a 12 with #2 shot did it just die of fright?

Just about. One BB hit him in the head. All the other bbs went right over him. Them rascals are fast.

Spent some time years ago in Nebraska doing some duck hunting, tried to shoot more than a few prairie dogs while there, covered the entire hole openings with shot and never hit one of them. Never did figure out how they could be so fast. I'm guessing gophers are just a tad slower!
