Scary moment!

Well I ordered the OTIS cleaning system and wanted to run the barrel a few times since several hundred pellets have traversed through the HW97k.  I cocked the barrel and sat the gun butt first on my countertop.  I should state also that I have my UTG Leapers scope mounted on a UTG drooper mount.  Now back to the story..................so I was changing out the cloth patch for a brush when all of a sudden I heard a sliding noise and a loud whack!  I look to find my rifle falling to the floor.  I instinctly react to catch it but realized the loud whack was the rear of the scope impacting the countertop flat and flush!  I just knew the scope was ruined; optics screwed up; the reticle so off that even the good Lord above could not fix.  I quickly looked through the scope and it looked normal.  I even turned on the scope and the illuminated reticle still working with no shift in the crosshairs. 

I knew from the force the scope would have to be resighted.  To my amazement, dead on still when I took her outside to shoot at my steel swingers!  Holy Mother of Pearl Leapers truly means "True Strength"  and Recoil Tested!!!!!

And this is why I buy Leapers scopes!

Similar but with a powder burner: Last season while deer hunting my .270 dropped hard while leaning on the wall of a "Hide".  It was very very windy that day and I and the "Hide" up in the tree was shaking.  I knew the scope settings MUST`VE moved...but what can I do....had to finish off the day with the rifle.

Next week I used my 30.06 for the hunt and a week later I went to the gun range to test out the .270`s scope....yep...the P.O.I was 8" to the right and 4" down at only 50 yards!!!

Funny thing was...a week later I used my .270 and my friend used my 30.06 for a day`s hunt at another location.  Long story short....we got lost coming out of the woods and we stumbled in there for over an hour.  We thought we might have to spend the night in the woods because we were going around in circles.  Anyways my friend stumbled in the mud and roots and fell but his hand absorbed the shock but the rifle did hit the ground slightly.  We thought the settings were not affected.

I didn`t use the 30.06 again until after deer season....and at the gun range the P.O.I moved 3" left and 2" down at 100 yards.

Both scopes are Bushnell Banners: 3-9x40mm AO for the 30.06 and 4-12x40mm AO for the .270

I saw a video of the 2012 SHOT show with a segment on leapers. The owner and his wife were both there. Leapers is an American company and do make some things here. The others are made in Taiwan which seems to have better QC than mainland China. Not to mention, the owner is Chinese so that closes the language barrier if there was one. I currently have 3 leapers scopes. One on my Marauder (3-12 swat, well worth the $100 and love the side parallax adjustment), 2-7 on my Marlin 22 mag, and a 3-9 AO in my 10/22. I think they are a lot of scope for the money and can take a beating or two. Leapers in my experience with them personally, stands behind their products. On the other hand, I am still curious what the Hawks scopes are about?

I will be saving my money for a leapers in the near future. I agree with the strength of leapers.
I had 3 older, full size models, That seen thousands and thousands of shots, including the odd fall and tumble, before Failing.

Excellent product for the money. Wondering why I ever left that brand.
Good to hear yours is doing fine.
