I wouldn't put Goo Gone in that barrel unless you want rust in it. Why people insist on putting Citric acid in their barrels is beyond me.

Do your thorough GG cleaning and leave it set for a few days. Run a clean patch through and then tell me what you think that red-brown color is. Balistol is a much better solution. By the way, bluing is a rusting process.
