What Scope and Mounts are you using on your Marauder?

Hey folks,

Just wanted to see what everyone was using.  I have my Walmart Centerpoint 4-16X40 scope but I need mounts for the Marauder.  The ones that came with the scope were weaver based.

I seen that the Leapers Accushot Medium 3/8" will work.  Any others?  Id like to be able to use the flipcaps that came with the scope, but keep the scope as low as possible.  Anyone try the AirForce Medium Height 9.5mm - 11.5mm?

What are you all using?  I'll be ordering some stuff from Pyramyd so if they have mounts that will work, that would be convenient.

  Just wanted to post since i've had such great luck in my choice of scope for the Mrod.  I wasn't sure about my choice originally but i went with a leapers utg 3x9x40 without the adjustable objective(AO), pyramid sells this scope with a preset parallax of 35 yards for about $55.00, under 50 after 10% discount. For $50.00 this scope is absolutely phenominal!!  Light and shorter than an AO, no knobs to have to fiddle with, Seems brighter than my AO models and i've had 0 parallax issues. I do have to drop to 3x for close shots but i can shoot with no problem from 5 yards to 50. I have not tried any farther yet but am sure it will be of no issue. Keep in mind that there are many rimfire scopes sold by everyone from leupold down to simmons, that are pre parallax adjusted at 35-50yards. Any of these scopes would probably work fine and would keep you from having to constantly adjust your objective lens. Unless of course you just target shoot, in which case adjusting your AO might not bother you a bit     So far as rings go i just used the utg rings but am going to look into blowing $75.00 or so for a really nice one piece BLK mount.     good luck on your mount hunt!!  J

I use the Hawke Sidewinder 30 8-32x56 SR12 scope. For rings I use UTG 30mm high rings.

My scope is amazing, cost more than the gun.. but oh well.

I use the Simmons WhiteTail Classic 6.5-20X50 AO. Works great for me..

My Marauder has a Centerpoint 4-16x40 scope with a three inch sun shade. I use Sun Optics fully adjustable medium rings. They are not cheap, but they work extremely well on my PCP'S.

I noticed there is just enough barrel/scope clearance for the flip up caps. I have the caps that came with the scope, but I don't use them.

I got the sun shade from Crosman and the rings from Straight Shooters.

I don't think you can use a one piece mount on the Mrod, not sure about the BLK model but it might be worth a check first.

I use the Leapers Accushot Medium 3/8" myself (3-12x44), they work great; also have them on two of my heavy springers and with some 609 Loctite on the dovetails they've held for almost two years now.  Good mounts, great price.

 Hey staz, i tried to post a pic of the blk base but couldn't. It has a separation between the solid rib that connects to the dovetail, this open area allows for magazine insertion. It looks very solid and is spec'ed to be for bolt action guns.  J

Larry, the covers fit on the sunshade?  I haven't been able to get an answer one way or the other.  I am overseas and want to get them bought before I get back.

Im curious as well.  Im thinking about getting the sunshade but want to use the caps.  Im also curious if there is enough room for the caps with medium mounts and my centerpoint 4-16x40?

I installed the scope cap on my Marauder, and alas the cap fits too loose over the sun shade. I noticed the cap was made to fit over the thick knurl or finger grip, which is located about 1/2 inch from the front of the bell. I removed the sun shade and the cap would not clear the barrel where the knurl is. So, the cap would clear the barrel with the shade on, but does not fit correctly, and will not fit over the knurl with shade removed. My medium rings will not work with the flip up cap. High rings will work for sure.

One time I bought a set of medium and a set of high regular rings for a scope installation on a new CFX. It was better to end up with an extra set of rings knowing I would be able to finish the scope set up. I ended up using the medium rings and kept the high rings. However, I could have easily returned the unused high rings.

I wouldn't let the cap fitment issue keep you from getting the 3" sun shade. You may find it very useful. I have, and I now keep it on my scope all the time.

Anyway, the shade was $9.95 plus shipping. Not a big Investment!
