Best is subjective.
I've had some real lemons that could be in the running for the worst.
1. Tool truck sale Chinese pistol. I could throw a pellet faster than it shot it out. Barrel was so badly "drooped" it shot 6" low at 10 feet and couldn't adjust for it. Horrible construction and materials.
It went in the trash.
2 TF 89. Started out promising and looked good but...... Cocking linkage rubbed on the stock, power dropped quickly, accuracy was never there. Best thing about that gun was the scope that came with it. It's in pieces.
3. Crosman 2100 Ok gun but the scope rails in the receiver were WAY off. You couldn't even get close to sighting in any scope. Felt cheap. Gave it away.

Best: Tie: Diana 48 in .22 w/Maccari ZRT kit. and HW 97 .177. Un tuned, most consistently accurate air rifles I have ever owned.

Worst: Hmmmm... where to start? QB 78 ( sticky bolt, Co2 not good in damp PNW) Gamo Big Cat ( hard hitting but sheared off a scope stop pin, loose lockup at pivot ) they were the ones I was glad to see go..

It should have been broken into categories

1 - Child's Gun - Anything under 400 fps
2 - Cheap Multi-Pumper
3 - Multi-Pumper
4 - Break-Barrels
5 - CO2 Powered
6 - PCP
7 - Custom or Heavily-Modded

Doesn't seem like a "VS" question to me at all, but merely a subjective one regarding, well, which simply were the best and worst each person has had. I doubt many here have had enough of each type to make a valid or "fair" comparison. Besides, there are more than a few cases of cheapo's making people happier than their high dollar versions.

Best: HW97KT. Perfect out of the box. Aim-Fire-Bullseye.

Worst: Crosman 760. Shotgun pattern at 15ft no matter what I feed it.

I think it should be on expectations, a $500 dollar gun is going to perform better than a $ gun but I would expect alot from an expensive gun

Best performer is a Marauder .22 after a little work.

Worst : Agree with Dave, have not had a worst because every one of my 6 air guns has performed exactly as I expected. The cheap ones don't shoot as well as the more expensive ones and although it's a challenge trying to make a bargain gun perform better I can't blame the cheap gun for being just what it is. The very best value per dollar in an air gun I found to be a 1377 purchased in '96, it's dead accurate and still works great, for only $37.00.

BEST: Powerline 880. Cheap and with a 4x32 scope mounted on it and quality pellets in it she gets the job done out to 30yds.

WORST: Crosman Night Stalker. Total piece of plastic &^^& that would not shoot half the time I pulled the trigger. Waste of $100.

I think my 30 odd year old BSA Mercury S in 0.177 is the best BSA [and also springer of any make] I`ve ever owned, I still shoot HFT courses with it and I really love it!

Worst was an early model Turkish Webley Stingray II ,this thing was harsh and horrible to shoot,just plain nasty!!

Best: AA S200 .177 with peep sights my son shoots in 10 meter. It's a noisy birds worst nightmare and the compact stock makes it a jewel to shoot. I see the AA S200 Hunter may be available again. It just went to the top of my list.

Worst: Beeman R9 .20. Not because it does not shoot well because it does. I just hate that thwank of a springer. My son likes it so it will stay in the stable.

Only two air rifles I currently own.

i am amazed at what we like , dont like and what works metimes a pricey gun can be as big a joke as a cheep gun. but if it dont fire when trigger is pulled or hit where your looking price dont mean a thing . tomato stake guns . as for classes of guns, it shouldnt matter as you got a good 1 or its a bad 1 . i didnt even list it but i had a daisy 1100sxu that didnt last 10 shots . it never had a chance as it was defective from the start . sad part it had extremely nice well figured wood and perfect blueing ... i returned it and never looked back . lets keep the list moving , it might help a newbie make a selection and not learn the hard way .

Best: Probably my old Stoeger X10 that I tuned myself. Installed a GRTIII trigger, JM Apex piston seal, and JM E3650 spring and lubed with JM moly and tar. No hone on this one. I think I will probably compare every gun I'll ever own to that one.

Worst- Chinese B3 underlever- which still isn't bad for the money.

Since I only own cheap guns........Best: QB57 .22 Worst: Crosman 795 .177
However, The B? underlever (after a tune) is pretty descent for the price ($5) I paid for it.

I loved the 795, very easy to work on and very basic. The only problem is the lock up. Took many Hosp and starling with it using open sights. Wore out the darn thing.
Best= Fx independence
Best= springers.. the ones in my signature..the Diana's are first.
Worst= too many to mention.

Best - Air Arms TX200 MkIII- right out of the box, shot great and looked beautiful. It's only money.
Worst - Gamo Whisper Deluxe. Master tuning could not help that one. Stop pin cut into the cheap riser/rail. Advertising got me.
