For the benefit of noobs like me how about letting us know whether it's a pump, CO2, break barrel or what. Most of these model designations mean nothing to me because I'm so new to the sport but I'm eager to learn and gather info.

Best i had was when i lived in England back in the early 80;s . It was a BSA Mercury S in .177 . Very powerful and accurate with a fantastic stock .

Worst is/was my first NPXL 1100 . This gun was bad . Was only shooting in the mid 500's fps , poi was different with every other shot , JUNKER . Replacement one however is a *(&^ of a lot better .

Also had quite a few honerable mentions for best guns but thats another thread .

wow im agreeing lambchops i got rid of all crosman and benjamins i owned except for my crosman 400 had it since i was 14 . never gave any trouble ,still looks new but needs new seals .a rainy day project

I like my NP XL 1100. It shoots straight and chronies at 900 fps. It is hold sensitive, and I'm already looking for a magnum replacement in a .22. RWS 460 and HW97 are on the short list. $:-\$

Best: Crosman Nitro Venom
Worst: Daisy Powerline 880

I know, not fair in comparison and the Daisy was actually pretty accurate... but the only two I've had. I'm sure the Crosman could have easily been the worst but I've been really lucky and haven't had any issues after a few months. Staying accurate, powerful and decently quiet.

Best: Vortek tuned RWS350 .22 cal., an all around dream machine. Worst: Crosman 66, piece of junk! The stock disintegrated within 2 years of purchase.

My best is my mac 1 ld with neil clauge ldc. Worst Was a nicely figured stocked ar6 pistol but it was an innaccurate pos with every type of .22 ammo i could buy. Trigger pull in double action sucked bad. Single action tiny bit better. Over all &^^& pistol!

Best for me in terms of accuracy is my San Rafael-era Feinwerkbau 124 Sporter in .177 cal. Its not pellet fussy and is very consistent, even at longer ranges.

Not a fair comparison, but the worst is my B3 in .22 cal. Even at 10 yards, the accuracy isn't that great. Maybe I just haven't found its preferred pellet yet?

My friend just purchased a Beeman R9. Amazingly accurate right out of the box. Not even 100 rounds fired out of it yet!

The Best: Beeman R11
The Worst: Gamo Whisper VH and fully tuned too (thought the tune will fix it up but I cannot get the groups to tighten up no matter what I do)

Seems to me that it's evident that you get what you paid for, and that sometimes, you get lucky and get a good one.

Best: My best springer is my RWS 36C, but it is pushed hard by my RWS 320 and my Gamo Whisper

Worst: EASILY a TF 99 .177

My best, to date, is my AF Talon P, stock. My worst, An old chinese, B-3; to clarify, worst doesn't mean I would get rid of it because it challenges me to shoot better and does the job if I take my time and use a proper hold.

Best is a toss up between my Gamo CFX, my Model 34, and my gas-rammed XS46U. If I had to choose, I would probably pick the 34, even though it's less powerful than the others because it's so light and comfortable.

Worst so far is the Crosman Titan GP. I just finished a thorough tune on it, with GRTIII trigger, GRS bushing, and brass barrel washers, but it still isn't behaving. I need to put more ammo through it and experiment to find a hold it likes, but still, it really feels like Crosman didn't think the design of this gun through. Strangely, the machining is decent on the internals.

Multipumpers:
Best: Sheridan mfg. Blue Streak.
Worst: Daisy 880. Barrel and front sight like to wiggle free occasionally and that really messes with accuracy/function.

Agree, its not really fair to compare springers to msp, or pcp.

I guess I'm the only one here who is having a hard time with this. I mean, technically my daisy powerline 201 would be the worst, it's just a smoothbore bb gun that will shoot pellets too if you want to spend more $$ for worse accuracy. But here's the thing. I LOVE that gun. It was cheap, around $20 including postage, shoots cheap ammo(bbs) and while not by any means accurate does ok at the max range I can shoot it from (12-15ft). The trick to it is to use combat and novelty targets (LOVE Osama bin Ladens head, ICE target is good too), so you don't need a great group, you just try for all "kill" shots. The one time I got to shoot it outside it did well knocking down cans as well.

The "best" right now would be my 1377, since I misplaced my gamo compact. From what I recall the compact had a better trigger pull, but I'd need to shoot them both side by side to compare accuracy. The 1377 does have the advantage of variable pump and at 3 pumps it's not too loud, an ABSOLUTE necessity in my small studio I live in. It is much more accurate and even at 3 pumps more powerful than the powerline. I generally use the gamo 5 meter targets for it, but sometimes I just cant resist and Osama gets nailed by it. Pellets are way more expensive than bb's so it cost more to shoot it but being a multi pump it is a slow shooter so it doesn't burn off ammo like a c02 pellet pistol would.
This was a good question, and for me, harder to answer than for most of the people here.

Best: Weihrauch HW97K, Cadillac among spring guns, maybe more like a Porsche.

Worst: Chinese TF58 side lever, junk, made from junk materials, operated like junk, especially if you like a rifle to fire before you even close the lever! What a POS.

I can only name the worst. It was a Gamo CF 20 something or other that had an under lever and when you cocked it the breech would pop up to load a pellet. I couldn't hit a milk jug at 20yrds, when it actually did manage to get the pellet out the end of the barrel. Can you say coat hanger??

Right now my HW77K .20 is hanging out with me in the Man Cave and has been same hole accurate out to 25 yards. Every now and then something will get between me and the target and cause me to miss the spot I am aiming at. But for the most part it is dead on and it has been around for over 16 years.

Gene got to tune it and I almost had to drive over there and steal it back from him he liked it so much....

As for PCP it would be hard to beat the NJR 100 short action with the Regulator from Korick(sp) but is is gone now due to life getting in the way. Besides it was in .177 and I have switched to hunting with .22 and above.

Go to PCP now for accuracy is the S500 FAC in .22 and the DAQ 308 for just plain ole kicking azz.

Hopefully the 458 coming will top it. We will see.
