I am curious if the TF-99 and lesser known QB-36-2 are the same rifle? They physically look the same to me, and apparently share mainspring components.

The QB 36-2 has a plain stock no checkering. Not sure if Compasseco had better quality control when bringing in the TF 99.

Basically the same gun, particularly internals. I had the QB36-2 (since sold), it was a heavy, but good and powerful rifle, that benefited from a little easy work. It is internally identical to TF-99 from every picture and post I have seen.

Yes, these are the same air rifles, both manufactured by the Shanghai Airgun Factory.
The QB36-2 name is the factory's own brand. Tech Force TF99 branding was used on production dedicated for Compasseco. Shanghai Airguns - like the other Chinese airgun factories - will manufacture "store brand" versions of their products for a large enough order and still does for retailers in other countries.
As you can see from the factory website
http://www.airrifle-china.com/products_detail/&productId=6877546a-a1d2-46f2-be39-8f5e8421f5b2&comp_stats=comp-FrontProducts_list01-1317100449435.html
there are a number of sub-versions of the QB36-2, depending on stock checkering and type of sights fitted.

What car is "plugged in" to that motor? Is that an orig 302 with factrory headers? I had a black & white '68 Z, man, those headers and solid lifter sounds were the bomb

Yeah i was particularly curious about the internals because the qb-36-2 is available for $90 while the tf-99 is $140. I can understand different trim models changing the cost, but thats a big price difference.
