Well i have the vantage and the gas spring isonly 30$.  The mainspring broke on the vantage.

I too have the vantage 1200.  Really like the gun.  It is a great shooter.  (Took a couple tins of pellets to break it in)  The gun seems very hard on scopes.  (Been through 3)

I do not think there is a drop in nitropiston.  I've also searched the web and can't seem to get a definite answer yes.  (The only answers I've seen are No.)

I guess all i need to know is how long is the compression tube on the vantage? I know crosman uses two lengths a short 100mm stroke gas ram and a longer gas eam either 125mm or 150mm.  I have a feeling this the  in theshorter c ompression tube. If someone could measure tuberom behind the barrel to before the plastic cap i would appreciate it.

By the way, the Vantage NP is very, very much more accurate then the 1200. I don't wanna sound crazy here, but ONE time, I did a 1 inch, 5 shot group at 50yds. CPHP's. Shooting with rifle rested on walmart sandbags. Had to put my hand in almost the same exact location with every shot, while keeping the pressure on the rifle the same(buttpad, hands). It took me about 30-40 seconds per shot just to adjust myself to hold the rifle in the same position for every shot, and then about 15 more seconds to gently squeeze the trigger. Very hard, but possible.
