TRAIL NP VS TRAIL NP XL in .22.......

pro's cons... 200 fps worth it?

LongIslandHunter had some very good real world information on the XL 1100. I don't have one yet, so I'll sit back and learn. I want one or BOTH.

Both will kill small game,but do you want to do a lot of target shooting,then go with the NP,if you are strickly a hunter type then i would go with the XL1100 and i did

The XL1100 is fairly heavy and you need to learn a way to cock it.I rest stock butt on my left toe ,hold fore with my left hand and break barrel with left=easy,i could it all day,if need be.

I'll admit I'm a power junkie, if it also comes with accuracy. I do a lot of paper punching to keep my AGs ready when I need to place a shot on a varmint. I prefer a heavy wooden gun. So, the XL series was perfect for me. My XL1100 is cranking out 27fpe with several different rounds. And dead on accurate. You can also find them less than $299 + s/h, like at PA with a 10% coupon. I've seen it as low as $269 online also. You can find used ones on GunsAmerica or Yellow and save a bunch. Oh, and the extra power will also result in extra range or more knockdown power up close.

i'm leaning heavily towards the NP XL1100 in .22, i have about 1400 rounds of CPHP's and i absolutly love the THWOP of hitting a squirrel in the chest with the .22 how hold sensitive is the XL?

I would almost say mine is not hold sensitive. What I've tried to do is condition myself to relax. I use an artillery hold and just lightly press it against my shoulder, loosen my trigger hand grip to relax it and just lay the rifle in my resting hand. When I do this, my picture is steadier in the scope and gives me a more accurate shot. It helpd with follow-through also. DEFINATELY get a Tuna trigger!!!! All three of mine are equipped with those, makes a world of difference. But you've heard that time and time again.

well, if anyone has a XL1100 .22 there willing to part with... i'd love to take it off your hands!!!

i can't wait. i might drive over to basspro shops tomorrow, and see if they have any there... so i don't have to wait for shipping costs.

I'd call them as I do not think they carry it. I was just at one today (Ashland, VA) and they did not have it. I had one but got rid of it. It was definitely a hammer of a gun.

Mills Fleet Farm in Iowa is where I acquired my elephant gun in the small varmint world. $220-230. I bought the gun about 3 weeks ago and put about 300 rnds through it. It's sighted in at 60 yards. I shoot about a 1" group with H n S barracuda match pellets. I personally wouldn't ever sell my XL .. ever .. but I would give you a heck of a deal on a gamo big garbage ... ah ... i mean cat.

2 crows 80 yds
3 rabbits 95, 60, and 40 yds
3 squrriels 60, 40 yds
1 chimpmunk squirrel at 20 yards. Use the 3 mil below for the one.

I am using the stock trigger which sux and I have ordered the GRT for both my guns. I think the center point scope works very well. Does not have the fiber optics but where I shoot at night is lite by parking lights.

I have the XL in .22 caliber and it's an awesome hunter. I did a bunch of pellet testing and chrony testing with mine when I first got it and posted all the data but it was lost when we went to the new forum

but to say that I was happy with the results would be a severe understatement. My XL is very consistent, smooth cocking, deadly accurate with a variety of pellets and giving me outstanding FPS and FPE.

I bought mine strictly for hunting and it shines in that dept. Like the others above said though, if you're looking for a target rifle than go with the standard NP. The cocking effort on the XL takes the fun out of target shooting, at least for me....

Oh....man....you guys have done it to me again. Now there's a burnin desire inside myself for an NPXL.22. And I even shoot my Marauder(s) everyday. I thought my springer fever was gone, but no...there's still that little spark burnin. $:-\$
