Nitro Venom piston seal finally failed

After some 6000 rounds, the piston seal finally let go in my venom. It started horizontal stringing and some shots sounded funny too. I finally got the nerve to void the warranty and tear it apart myself. The center of the seal was actually seperated from the outer section with one nick in the inner ring. I was also suprized to find quite alot of dirt between the two seal rings. So now that I have it all torn down with a seal on order from PA (they carry the titan seal wich is the same part number) I was thinking of doing the barrel pivot screw washers and increasing the tension on the lockup lug..... any other suggestions?

Which Nitrogen Gas Spring are you going to replace it with ?  The Crosman piece or an after market unit like the N-Focer's, Kaller's, Dadco's, or Moeller's ?

Was a spring compressor needed?

Ok I'm not replacing the nitro piston gas ram, its fine. I'm replacing the piston seal, Yes you need something to compress the gas ram retainer cup to get the pin out. I just used a bar clamp since it's only compressed about 1/4 "
