1077 bullpup mod
«

Well I was so happy with my first 1077 tactical mod I decided the 1077 bullpup mod should be next.
So I am going for this look in pic#1
Here are two slabs of white or red oak being laminated together in pic#2
Here I used the old 1077 stock to draw out the cut out for all the innards in pic#3
And here I have rough drawn the bullpup cut out. You want to gut out the innards at this point while the piece is nice and squared out. in pic #4
The ammo clip is there to make sure I have drawn out enough room to load and unload.
There are two major design factors
1) the forward trigger, thanx to another member Uncle Jack and his bullpup design I was able to copy his trigger method. I will be using rivets and Harbor frieght has one for like 5 bucks plus rivets. This will be tricky as we have to go around the ammo clip and still keep the mechanism hidden inside the stock.
2) next hurdle will be the co2 tube needs to be lengthened by about 7 1/2". My thought is to cut the tube in half and turn an 7 1/2" insert tube between them two pieces that saves on milling and threading.
This project is also going to take me awhile as I cannot spend a dime until I help the wife and kid get to the Philippines to see her family in May.
But I can gut out the stock and get it roughed out
More to come....

gutted out most of the stock. Used a keyslot cutter to cut a groove for the forward trigger link. Also made my own round bit out of an old spade bit.

Yeah me too , the first few that I seen didn't impress me until I seen the Russian bullpups(pictured in my first post)
I think they are the baddest guns around.

ZipSnipe, I have a bull pup mrod conversion on my bucket list lol. Can you share the trigger linkage technique you reference?
Are you using a drill press or do you have a mill?
Looking forward to watching your progress!

Lars the pic below is basically the looking down at the triggers. What I will do is leave the 1077 trigger as it is but have an aluminum piece that clamps to it, the linkage has to go around where the ammo clips in. In the front the linkage will be bolted to a trigger that I will fabricate. I like the 1077 sliding trigger deal and I will do one similar except mine will be aluminum and on a dovetail. The work is being all done on a milling machine that I made several years ago.
Donny I swear if I had the extra wood I would have loved to make two or three. In fact I wish I had the same wood they use on those Russian bullpups I think its Birch or Beech, I am using either Red or white oak, I really can't tell the difference between the two, looking more like white oak but I have seen red oak the same color too.

Trigger and a spare, I polished the one, put some light oil on a buffing pad and it gives it a nickle look. Need to tap 2 small holes in each trigger. There will also be a brass dovetailed piece on top of it. Decided to make a a new barrel band that will house the forward trigger, will start on that tonite.

Aah man thats a bummer. Mine works great. I think yours might have just been a fluke. I still think its a great gun for the money. Its not a hunting gun but its a great backyard plinker. I just ordered the co2 tube from Crosman the other day, like 10 bucks shipped. Working on the design of the barrel band with intergrated trigger housing and dovetail top.
More to come..

if you figure out a way to mod it to a regulated 800 psi hpa you could make some $, also take your plastic stock measure it up and make wood ones, i know everyone who has a 1077 wants a woody!!

Well got the one barrel band done with integrated trigger. The other band is gonna need more work.
I also screwed up as far as where the two holes are for the barrel they should have been down another 3/16" to give me room for a dovetailed top but Oh well, I'll just get the barrel clamp mounts for the red dot scope.

Well finished the linkage for now. I might add a spring to it but that would probably be on the inside of the stock. I am currently awaiting more cash to come in so I can purchase another 1077. I am also awaiting the extra c02 tube I ordered from Crosman they are a lil slow.
The second pic shows a difficult trianglur piece I had to make. I originally tried to do the triangle piece all the way to the round piece in one whole piece of aluminum but I failed :-( . So I fashioned that triangular piece with 6 tapped 6-32 holes. Total time in the linkage is around 20 hours.
I also made a duplicate of the linkage which I will sell. It will be rough and not polished to keep the cost down, who ever buys it can polish it up and I might leave the holes un tapped on the second one again to keep cost down.
More to come...

Thanx Donny and Ray
Well I forgot I had cashback bonus on my Discover card and so I used that to purchase another 1077 and it should be here within the next two weeks.
So until then I can do a little more to the stock such as making a cap for it and I will make the muzzle brakes(making 2)
I soooo wish I had a DRO(digital read out) for my milling machine , I could do waaay cooler muzzle brakes if I had one.

Freakin figures, so yesterday morning I ordered the new 1077 from Amazon at $59 delivered(two weeks or less) and then this morning I am at the flea market and look what I found for $30.
I tried to cancel the one from Amazon but they said it already shipped. So now I will make two bullpups and sell the extra one.
I also have the two squared up blanks for the muzzle brakes ready to go. I have changed my design a lil.
And sorry about the low rez pics, this is my new cheapo dig cam as the old cam bit the dust
more to come......

Here is the set up for doing the muzzle brake. I will be doing 3 square holes per side at about an hour per hole(not fun)
Normally I would do this on the cnc mill that I used to have but I can only do it on the manual mill with dial indicators to show my position. And you have to take your time so ya don't screw up.
Also is a pic of the trigger set up mounted to the 1077

I'm liking the step by step process. Thanks for documenting it. How easy do you think it will be to cycle and load?
Thanks,
Lloyd
