What exactly will your shooting be for?  That may very well dictate what you need.  As far as a Beeman...............hard to go wrong with any of the higher end pieces.

Yes, that is the "best" Beeman gun, i.e, the costliest.

I'm sure you're aware of this, but it takes 46# to cock the RX2, not my choice for a gun I'd be plinking with. It's also loud, if that makes any difference to you

Hmmm thats a good budget....I know this ain't German but a 25 cal Marauder and a nice 4500 PSI tank....fairly quiet, groups well and a hammer

An RX2 is one sweet piece, no doubt about it. If the cocking effort gets you worried consider looking for an RX1 safe-queen... No scratch that...that's what I'm doing... The R1 is a short 3/4 the cocking effort of the RX2 at more like 85% of the power. The R9 is lower power than the R1 and has 5/4 the cocking effort thanks to its short barrel; the R9 is very close to RX2 territory in that regard. R1 in .22 without a scope or sights is only $614 or so...that is hard to beat IMO.

But if your looking for a break barrel with hunting potential the R11 is a sweet looking piece and I would opt for the .20 caliber in that gun for the velocity and added punch of fpe over the .177 caliber.

I may have to put this gun on my list somewhere down the road to get.

Man o man what a budget. Thats a nice pcp setup or a r-1 or rx-2. I would recommend a rws 54 or 470 th if it was mostly target work. I have a 470 that is crazy accurate for a springer. I dont own an r series gun but have looked alot and since you knocked the 350 out right off the bat i think that would leave the r1 rx2.

I love my R series airguns, and the RX2 is definitely on my short list.  Currently, I'm shooting the HW97k a great deal, and it is awesome!  I vote for the RX2 because I want one too.

PCP is great too, but I got tired of lugging the scuba tank around.

Two comments on the RX series.  1) They are heavy guns, even with the gas piston in place of the spring.  Something to think about in the woods all day.  2) It takes a fair bit to cock one, so they aren't dual-purpose, take to the bench for an hour guns.  With that out of the way, I think they make a pretty ideal, HIGH POWER hunting rifle.  The triggers are very good - not target but certainly great for the field - and you can cock it and then go about the business of hunting without worrying about spring fatigue.  Certainly has to make stalking easier on easily spooked game.  I'm not sure if the new guns have the readily adjustable ram, but a pump and gauge will allow you to "detune" one at which point you have an R9 or even R7 for short range/plinking.  Were I to buy one today, I would see if that pump and gauge kit were still available.  If you're paying that much for the gun, might as well throw in a little bit more.

Does that mean spring-gun only? If so, 1) Theoben SLR 2) Air Arms Pro Elite 3) Weihrauch/Beeman. + great scope and great mounts like Sportsmatch or BKL and you are at youR $1000+.

Also, look at the new Walther LGV, it is supposed to be the epitome of new spring gun design.

For your money you can also go retro.  A really nice FWB124D with good glass can be had for about half of what you are looking at.  Not a powerhouse compared to a 350 but certainly a "high class" number.

Good call RedFeather, we tend to forget that the 124 is a gem of engineering and quality.
