oh one thing i noticed on my gp was the tube housing where the gas spring and piston reside. the gas hole does not line up the best to the barrel. the hole on the housing seems to be drilled of center. I was wondering if the air comming out of the housing and is not hitting the hole very centered if this would cause the pellets to cock. i put some parafin wax in between the two and shut the barrel and it looks about 1.5 to 2 mm of from one another. Any thought or ideas?

barrel droop is when the muzzle is slightly lower then the breech end of the barrel. at least that is how it was explined to me in a simple way. as far ast the transfer port and the barrel lining up the only way to really tell is to take everthing out of the compression tube and look throught the tube and down the barrel and see if its a straight path.......dave

Ok the guy at mellonair says i need to take the cocking arm off the barrel it looks riveted on if i get it off how do i put it on. Also will the barrel and washer kit for the np work on the titan gp http://www.airguntoys.com/

I took my stoeger barrel to a gunshop, they were able to leave the cocking arm on.

You would have to drill out the head of the rivet on one side then tap it out.You would then replace with nut and bolt.

i don't know about the nut and bolt idea , you can order a new pin from crosman for a couple dollers and replace it when you done. it just tends to be a pain to peen the pin back over so it does not fall out. a local gun smith should be able to fix you up as well call around where you live it may be cheeper then the shipping and other charges for the crown itself if done locally

The only way I would be able to do it (nut and bolt).
Definitly investigate further from other members. Don't wreck your gun.

When you upgraded the gas ram, did you remove the piston? If so, did you debur any sharp edges that could come into contact with the piston seal? Did you check the piston seal? You've already replaced the pivot washers. With everything you've done, about the only thing left is Gene's GRS.
If you are still having issues after re-crowning, I'd suggest heavier pellets. Air rifles are finicky, fickle critters. Try a variety of pellets. It could be that your gun just does not like the pellets you've been feeding it.

i found an old timer local gunsmith to recrown the barrel. he was pretty tickled to death when i whipped out a .177 barrel. So i added the higher pressure gas spring from crosman (BT9M22-00-5 ), datuna trigger, deburr-lube/tune, new piston seal "miccari" its a little wider, genes grs bushing washer kit and i removed the barrel shroud. my groups touch each other at 25 yards with leapers mildot 3x9 scope. still getting used to it at 50 these springer/gas spring guns are harder to shoot that far. So my conclusion is that either the crown or seal was bad not sure which maybe both. The condition this gun came from the factory was pretty bad "China" . I would say for others who read this take your gun apart clean it , deburr it, remove the chinese mystery oil , add good moly paste, clean the barrel add the miccari seal, try alot of pellets and holds aka "artillary hold" oh and the most important the datuna trigger. my cheap o titan gp shoots better than my buddies modded rws 34!!

yes it will group i have a leapers 3x9x40 scope i can do dime size groups at 25 yards with jsb domes. it starts getting pretty wild at 50+ yards prob more me than the gun im not used to these foward recoil guns. Also another issue i found this gun had barrel droop. i machined about .5 off of the top rear of the barrel and it quit shooting low wasnt locking up properly. Unless you work at a machine shop like i do and have patience i would stay away from these walmart china guns.

Sure hope you mean 5-thousandths (.005") - or better yet, 5-tenths in machinist terms (.0005").

no i remade the angle where the compression tube meets the barrel. from the factory the top of the barrel was the only point of contact from top to bottom. and the breach seal was left as the only method of holding all the compressed air with no support from the bottom. from what i found was i could fit a .500mm feeler gauge on the bottom and nothing on the top so the angle was bad. i removed the seal and called my teacher at the shop. i am a machinist but angles are hard and im still learning. he took some measurements on a ferrow arm fed out a blue print did some calc. on auto cad and did his magic and bam it fit nice. also we plugged the holes with aluminum rod welded them and filed them smooth where the barrel mounts to the compression tube. re dilled and tapped them. we also re drilled the main hole on the barrel and compression tube and made a better fit with a larger grade 8 bolt it was loose and sloppy.

i know this is alot of work for a crappy walmart titan gp but it has been fun and thats what modding is about take a cheap product and make a great product right?

Some simple shimming of the rear scope mount or a droop compensating scope mount would have done the same but where is the fun in that?

this barrel had alot of wiggle in it from top to bottom and side to side but now its solid and i cant move it. The work done shows in the targets dimes at 25 and base balls at 50. not bad for a 140$ junk gp.

This just goes to show that if you buy in the sub 300$ guns your going to get sub par performance. But i feel im ahead 140$ gp + 30$ trigger + higher power gas spring 30$ + re crown 20$ + thicker piston seal 5$ = 225$ yes i know i had alot of custom machine work done for free cuase i work at a machine shop. that could easily have been 200$+.

what are the pros thoughts on heavier or lighter pistons? would a heavier piston result in more power and less recoil. or would a lighter piston result in more power and less recoil. my thinking would be that a heavier piston could compress air faster but would have a more recoil at the end of travel. a lighter piston would compress air slower but would have less recoil at the end of travel.

i think my next project will be to make a custom longer compression tube out of stainless with alot of swept volume and a seriously powerful gas spring. with a custom tigger and sear assembly out of steel as well. and a custom piston.

Wonder what the relationship between barrel length and swept volume is?

does anyone think we can break the .177 2000 fps berrier.
