What would you buy?

I'm returning a .177 Nitro Venom Dusk due to a faulty scope and possible poor accuracy. So what would you buy as a replacement in the range of $150-$200 range? Thanks.

I thought the Titain and Venom are almost the same, the Vemon is a bit more beefed up with rails and different stock. I could be wrong. I do really like the Nitro Piston idea as not to wake up the neighborhood and its other features. That means I might be stuck with getting another Crosman, Gamo had IGT but I think that’s out of my price range.

id vote for a titan, their power seems to be just right for a break barrel.. but get a 22 caliber because not only is it a nitro piston which out of the box imo shoots better and smoother but you can take advantage of heavier pellets since it doesnt have a spring to wear out.. dont shoot lite weight pellets those rules still apply. but if you want to shoot a 16gr predator polymag you can

Thanks, I've been tossed between .22 and .177. It makes sense that the heavier .22 would be easier on the piston. Do you know what would be the range difference between the two calibers of the same brand? I've read that .177 travels farther with less arch making it more accurate or at least easier to compensate for distance.

My next rifle will be a Beeman Mach 12.5. This is the TF Jet in a non thumbhole configuration that puts out 25+ FPE easy. While it's not a gauranteed out of the box shooter, it's issues are common and easily addressed. It offers a decent scope, 25-30 FPE, easy tunability/servicability, good trigger, easy parts availability, decent QC, and a $209.00 price tag when bought from the right outlet. The Venom is just another basic Titan/Trail redressing with the requisite tons of Crosman QC issues. If you're going to go for reliable power and accuracy, eliminate the Crosman middleman and get something with a known character that can be dealt with is how I now see it.

That's what I would replace a mid range or even a top tier Crosman NP springer with. Even the trail Xl fails to deliver consistently out of the box well enough to justify ignoring the Chinese equals, or should I say "betters"?

Hmm. I can't seem to find the Beeman Mach 12.5 for $209, can you please provide a link. The Hatsan 95 sounds great but the stock is a bit "old fashion" for me, although the Hatsan 125TH looks sweet and for $199 could be the perfect fit the only problem is my wife is a lefty and would not be able to shoot.

the 22 caliber carries more energy and velocity down range, a 177 will burn off its velocity faster then a 22. a 22 will also handle more wind and handle it better then a 177

Bummer, didn't win my 530 million. I really wanted to say "Free airguns for everyone!". Still $2 spent on tickets was worth the 2 days of fantasizing.

Yeah, I'll most likely be getting a .22. I was just researching Beemans duel barrels, but they seem to have some really bad reviews.

The Beeman RS2 sportsmans are very good rifles. Just avoid dual barrels as it adds an extra area of variables. Dual caliber is just a gimmick though it often actually works. These 22's are accurate and powerful. A RAM or TETON is a very good choice economy and power wise. Good clones of RWS 34's.
