Airgun Daily tripped my trigger- Rem NPSS

Not sayin' it's the greatest price and all, but I guess I'm finally getting a piston gun.

They just sent this one, and I had it ordered about 5 minutes later. I wanted the USA Remington version so that's what it is going to be (carbon fiber, not the digital camo).

Anyone know whether the trigger is better on the Remingtons than the Benjies and Titans?

Dave, you made a good choice with the NPSS.

The stock trigger on my Remington NPSS is better than the one that came on my Trail NP but I still replaced it with a CBR from Bob. It really makes it a fine rifle to shoot and worth the $29 (including shipping).

I ordered the CBR last night. I'll bet it gets here before the rifle. Believe it or not I have never had one of Charlie's triggers before, so I am excited about that too.

I was looking for a Titan but the only one I ever actually found (out of 3 different Walmarts) was damaged, and they wouldn't deal on it. I suspect I'm better off with the Remington version anyway. "American muscle" and all that.

I guess I'll run with the included Centerpoint until I see how she shoots.

I was reading up on this, starting with Gene's under the hood review. I think I may bust it down as soon as it gets here without firing a shot, if I have the self-discipline, and just deburr, lube, and replace the pivot washers from the get-go. I should have everything I need already except the bronze washers.

It would be interesting to see the out-of-the-box condition of the seal, and I don't want to score or melt it with any dieseling.

Edited to add that while I am not crazy about the carbon fiber look, I'll give it a chance. There is always the tape option for other patterns. If it is a really nice shooter, I might go looking for a wooden sporter stock. Someone said the Legacy should fit.

I have been reading tons of not so flattering writeups on the Titan here and elsewhere, whereas (aside from the stock flaking that is now resolved) the NPSS generally gets lots of favorable comments.
One other thing to do would probably be to use the brass washers.

I would suggest that you clean it and shoot it before you replace anything just in case there is something that could be bad enough to warrant sending it back.
  The trigger replacement (CBR) is great and easy and the washers also work good. If you put them in and find something wrong and you send the gun back with your upgrades they will probably send you a new replacement and you will loose your parts. You will enjoy this gun very much.

I got one as well; I needed a .22 for hunting and I prefered the black. I found the throught of being able to leave it cocked while hunting was very appealing.  I noticed a day or so later, they offiered the digital camo version.  I guess I wanted an American made product as much as anything.  Most of what I have was made in China and my CFX in Spain.  Looking forward to many hours of plinking and maybe some hunting.

This is not a refurb, but a totally new Rem NPSS. It works great and there are no defects out of the box in about 10 shots over the chrony.

Average fps with CPs was 736. No perceptible dieseling or detonation. I did not mount the scope, just function checking here, and now I am going to install the CBR trigger and the scope. The factory trigger was somewhat heavy and a little creepy, and I made no effort to adjust it.

Very smooth shot cycle, a different effort to cock than a spring, though. I would like to clean it up inside but this is a darn nice shootin' iron as-is.

Fairly quiet, too. Not as quiet as Marauder, to be sure. Definitely quieter than the RWS48 I was just shooting, though! Maxie the Killer stood next to me the whole time, and he doesn't like loud air guns.

Dave I shot genes a couple weeks ago this was my second go around shooting his and these ags are great. I also had the opportunity to see one in peices at Genes and they are by far better made  than the trails or NPs. I am sure you will be more than happy with your new shooter. Thanks David

Dave, mine didn't smoke at all but the seal still had a few very small nicks on it so I replaced it and lubed the piston and tube with moly. This really made the cocking stroke smooth. The CBR trigger is really a nice upgrade too.

I replaced the stock rings with these:



Mine shots H&N FTT 14.6 grain pellets 770 FPS and it shoots them very accurately. I'm sure you are going to love your NPSS.

Hawke weaver to picananny conversion mount, part number HM17021. This system works great for me on my NPSS and Ram Quest gas ram conversion. Have had great success with this setup and will continue to convert other air guns over as applicable. I might add that the adapter will also adjust for barrel droop. I am using a Hawk Map Pro 4-16X50 AO Mil Dot scope on the NPSS and a Hawke Map Pro 4-16X40 AO Mil Dot on the RamQuest.

I bought my rings and adapters from Air Gun Recon. They are listed in the GTA Mall.

Gene, that's a nice set-up and I thought about that same weaver to picananny conversion but it would have raised my scope too high. I suppose if I bought another scope with a 50 mm objective lense it would have worked but I have several scopes with 40 mm objective lenses to use.

The rings I bought pictured above have a total of 4 bolts holding them very securely to the dovetail and there has been no movement in over 1000 shots.

I am using a Weaver to Picatinny adapter currently, with Leupold PRW low rings, and I don't think my scope is excessively high at all, and it has a 40mm objective.

Yours may not be excessively high but I prefer the scope as low as possible.

Just an update to say I got a little more trigger time this morning and this gun loves Beeman FTS round nose. I am gonna get me some more of those! I don't know what the rest of you are finding but I need to search up the H&N equivalent.

I didn't chrony this mornings session. Gamo Hunters weren't too bad, except I noticed they are very different fitting from the same tin. I don't think they are too consistent and it showed in the groups.

Kodiaks were 3-4" lower than my others, not surprisingly I guess, but did not group worth a dang.

Still waiting to try the CPHP, and I am totally out of stock on .22 JSBs. I will be stopping by Mac1 later today (dropping off Marauder #39 for "the treatment") and will see what he has laying around.
