Bought an AG listed as like brand new in box from a seller/quasi dealer. Pistol comes and it is obviously either stolen or a refurb with makings sanded off. I was contacted by another buyer who said his was the same way. Both of ours had cases with sticky residue in the same place. Theory is it was a label that likely said  "remanufactured".

To top it off it took over a week for seller to ship and then only after I bugged him about it.

As you can see in the picture when he altered it he even sanded the safety catch.

I see same seller listing other items.

I confronted seller on this. His comment implies I did something to it. And he wants me to send back on my own dime and "he'll determine if I get my money back". I'm honestly worried I pay to send back and he now has my money and the gun. Seeing as his credibility is low already I'm not comfortably with that. At least i have a remanufactured gun.  Rather than nothing.

What would you do?

Sounds suspicious to me. If it were reman I think it would at least be sanded down nice n clean and finished to cover it. Does the gun function ok? If it works ok i would take the hit n keep it rather than risk loosing it completely

Andy, are you located where a sn might matter to you?  If so, then take it to the authorities, but be careful, your word against his.....
If not, shoot it and enjoy it, but post your whole email experience in the BOI.  Have the other buyer post thier emails.  Most folks say, 'talk to then on the phone"  which I agree to, but ALSO a detailed email conversation is in order....you cannot change the email content without it being blatantly obvious.   This way, there is no "he said, she said"...... Folks will read and come to thier own conclusions, but highly unlikely that you and another seller were in cahoots to file off sn's or refurb markings.   
Maybe fewer folks willl buy from this person, based on that information. 
Post the whole email, they dont lie.

Heres hoping you both can come to a satisfactory agreement.

You were lucky, as i suspect eventually he wont even bother to ship the items  he is tossing up for sale, rather he may just start taking  peoples money, here and there
 
 No don't send it back.
I lost 1900.00 on a deal i decided to take  outside of ebay on a old guitar amp, I received it, but it was not as stated and  some transformers were switched to non originals , i sent it back  and he kept my money and the amp.and that was that no recourse left unless i was going to get diabolical and I knew that that would not turn  out so well either.

Andy, I think I would go with my gut feeling on this and not send the gun back but instead post a complete synopsis of the deal in the BOI.  That way no one else will get caught if they do their research.  Maybe he will decide to do the right thing.

JB makes a good point, and maybe send the text of your BOI posting to the seller before you post, and "ask" him if he has anything to add before you post your comments?
