Best scopes for crosman pistols

After having occasionally considered buying a crosman pump pistol for the last 30 years, i finally bought a 1322. It should arrive today and already i'm planning it's build, including of course a scopable steel breech. Never scoped a pistol and it appears my common choices are 2x7, 4x, 2x, 1x reddots and the modern holographic "heads up" type sight. Do any of these stand out as a best choice for a fun gun? Will most sights stand up to the vibrations of pumping without changing poi? Any particular brands or models you like? Thanks! Jeff

Pneumatics don't tear up a scope like a springer with it's recoil does. Because of the limited range from the lower velocity, you don't need a power scope. Some bawk about putting a scope on a pistol, but I like it. I rarely adjust my scope POI, and use the scope all the time. My 1377 w/4x scope (and steel breech) is pictured to the left

JR: For pistol scopes, a long eye relief is needed (if a true pistol scope, it should already be built in)
2x power is the least prone to "wobble" due to magnification. If you have great eyesight, a BSA Red Dot with no mag is a good choice too.

I have two crosman a 2240 custom and and a 1322 custom. I have the crosman stock and 4 powers on both. I order a 1377 and mod parts today and I am going to put a 3X9 bug buster on it. The two I have built are shooters ( no thanks to me but the accuracy of the crosman barrels) makes it hard for me to pay 37.00 for a Walther barrel when the Crosman barrels are shooting 1 hole 10 shot groups at 10 meters

for me I like reddots on my pistols. no issues hitting at 30 yds which is farthest I shoot them.

Hey guys, thanks for the replies. Sounds like the 4x and higher are best off the bench or with a shoulder stock. That makes sense. A 2x seems to be inexpensive and popular as does the redot for general all around use, do those big diameter redots like the average bsa throw off the balance of a C pistol? Those tiny eotec type redots look pretty cool, might try one of those just for the cool factor and pick up a cheap ncstar or barska 2x pistol unless anyones found them unservicable... Darryl what kind of breechs did you use in your builds? Jeff

If your keeping it as a pistol and not a carbine, a 2x will be best IMO

Thats good to know if i run into a deal on one thank you. Just ended up winning a 34 dollar ebay bid on a used sightmark "reflex" holographic sight so i'll see how it does and use it on a shotgun if it doesn't work out. The revered brown truck didn't come today though so it'll be next week before i get to see my long long awaited 13XX. Can't wait to run some pellets through that gun. J

I use a BSA 2X20 handgun scope on my 13XX. It has been mounted for a couple years now of constant use and has not given me any problems at all. I provides very precise sighting but has a bit more perceived "wobble" than a red-dot.

I have a NcStar 2-7x32 pistol scope and it works great, I have it on an offset mount.

Glad to know that both the bsa and the ncstar work well as those 2 brands look fine and are inexpensive on ebay. I've got a beautiful 1" bkl offset 1 pc mount laying around that will work perfectly with one of them, thanks for the posts! J

I like basic 2x20 pistol scopes on my pistols. they aren't terribly expensive either, unless you go high-end.. but I've always had great results with those types. Below is a picture of a 1322 I built. The pistol scopes as i mentioned above have the right amount of eye-relief, and magnification perfectly suited for a crosman pistol in my opinion. They look sharp too!
Hope this helps!

Gorgeous wood josh, gotta agree that a straight tubed scope look best on these guns, at least to me anyway.. Will be ordering one of those too, between the holographic sight and a 2x, my bases should be covered well, thanks everyone for your replies. Jeff

If i wasn't sticking with my original plan of building a knockaround fun gun for a first pistol project i would be all over it,, 100 bucks for a stock like that seems a bargain. Already have one of Josh's stocks(rifle) on the way and believe me it's tempting to have him send both. Gotta hold off though, i'm approaching $200 already between the pistol, breech, mod accs and scope(s) and haven't received the first thing yet

Thanks, wow only 200 huh?? you're doing good then lol. I have 4-5 hundred each in a few different 13xx and 2240 builds i did a while back lol. when you buy parts over a long period of time, its easy to overlook the amount of cash gets dumped into a custom project... lol

I'm a fan of fixed power for most applications as you get better control over optics and variables. This is true for my photography as well. I find that something in the 4-6x range is optimal for a pistol, especially as you get older.

Right now I'm running a TruGlo red dot on my stock crosman 2289g with the 12" tube. Still waiting for my steel breech kit and 24" barrel.
