New Chop question

I finally got my RWS 34 shooting decent but I want to shorten the BBL. I would like to keep the choke and crown intact so I want to chop from the breech end. I don't own a press or a mil or a drill press. I do have a bench, vice and angle grinder with cutting wheels, oh and a bench grinder. I understand you can punch out a pin in the breech block and press out the BBL but what needs to be done to that end once you have removed the 3 or 4 inches you wanted to cut it down by before fitting it back into the breech block?

Dovetail up front?
Be careful when pressing, you can almost create a reverse choke. And be careful with the crown.
I would say, make your cut a little longer. Cut your pin slot. Taper the breech end a little and grease really well. This will help get started......If you have a dovetail, you are pretty much gonna have to have it lined up perfect. Press.
With the extra length, take a file and file down once your get it pressed down and you get your pin in. Patience will be your friend.
Might be better off just cutting and recrowning, and see if accuracy is affected too greatly. Is it a 12 land? I dont think those were choked......if its an 8 then yeah it is.
anyway, if it gets bad, remove the bbl assemblyk, send to Paul Watts, and have him choke and recrown......
shouldn't be too expensive.
God bless, and good luck.

My eyes are not good enough to count the lands but just from pushing a pellet through I can tell that there are more than 8 grooves.
How would you cut the pin slot, yes the muzzle has the dovetail on the end, don't own a press (hammer and block of wood?) Extra length? Are you saying you will have some tail sticking out beyond the breech once it is pinned in?
Do you have Paul's contact info? Maybe I will find out the cost and send both barrels to him for a choke and crown job at the same time then I can switch to .22 or .177 when I feel like it.
