Vortek Black OPs breech seal

Hey guys, I just ordered two Vortek Black OPs breech seals for My 34P. Advertised to provide a solid seal, improve performance and power. Anyone tried these yet? I will provide specs when I get them.

RWS break barrels are known for breech seal issues I think Tom is trying to address this issue with this seal JMO

I recieved my breech seals from Vortek. They are way thicker than the factory seals. O-rings have a round edge on them, these do not. The installation was easy, I just put a THIN coat of molly on it and pressed it in with my thumb. These offer a way better seal and a more solid lock up. I don't have a chrony and haven't shot the rifle yet. I'll keep Ya' updated.  OH, and I can say that I have "Black Ops" parts in My rifle...... Just sounds )&^%*^.....

Check your POI and see if it dropped down a little. On Tom's prototype seals I tested I needed to sand them down just a little because i dropped about 4 inches at 30 yards. Great seal though I like the idea of a softer material that will mash down and create a better seal overall. I gained about 20 Fps on my B28 .22 with one.

I don't like to sand seals unless I have to, I heat my breech seals up and stick them in and close the breech and let it form itself to the breech area, it needs to cool completely before you reopen it to make sure it keeps its shape!

How did You go about heating them?

you can use a hair dryer or what I use is my eden pure space heater that blows hot air, it get the seal good and warm and softens it enough so its plyable without burning it or melting it I let it set about 10min on the heat and you need to be fast at it as soon as it comes off the heater straight into breech and close it up immediately and let it cool completely and that should give it the fit it needs also make sure the breech is in its full locked up position upwards

Mark that's a really good tip. Many guns that exhibit droop actually don't have droop they just have an overly proud breech seal. You approach could solve many an Airgunners nightmares.

Bad news.... I went out to test the breech seals. At 30 yards from the bench where I sight My rifle POI was 30 inches low. My buddy and I have the same rifles, same build and same results. After further inspection it was obvious that the rifle wouldn't lock up completely. Instead of trying to heat or sand them we went back to the factory seals. POI was dead on.. Conclusion: These are WAY too thick. I'm bummed..

thats why you heat them up so they'll smash down and conform to the breech aera!

If it has a washer spacer leave it out.

I'm not into trying to outsmart an O-ring. Maybe it would be worth it to heat it up, but how much is it worth? I think that sometimes We may try a little too hard. Maybe I'll take the washer shim out and try again. After putting the factory O-ring back and put 20 pellets in one ragged hole at 30 yards, its hard to argue with simple reliabilty..
